Meeting some fellow gamers.
I was traveling so I made some plans to hook up with some of my forum friends(not TNL ofcourse). When I first met one of them I was shocked, "shit he's a nerd, but he sounded ok, even on the phone..". But I thought that I might as well go all the way and meet the others while I'm here.
So I go with him to an apartment where three other guys from the board where hanging out and, yes they where all geeks to. I walked around in the apartment and looked at the inventory, warhammer figures and games, sketches of trolls and such on the walls etc.
I figure this was the time, if ever, to drink a shit load of alcohol and just go with what ever happens. while I'm out smoking (yea I'm cool) my girlfriend calls (yea I'm normal), asking how things are going, I tell her I'm somewhat disappointed that they seem to be a bunch of geeks and she replies "what did you expect? You made contact with them on a gaming board (somewhat implying that I'm a geek too, the witch).
But I give it a go, break out one of the games I brought with me to enlighten them on the goodness that is Ikaruga, I play it solo and completely forget every stupid and silly thought I have carried.
Until some stupid fuck in the couch says: "was that it? 30 minutes and its ower?"
"yea but the length isn't that important when it comes to shmups".
After playing Giga Wing and listening to stupid asshole talking about how good every Square game is (of course not mentioning Einhänder for example) and that Xenogears is almost impossible to get a hold of and that there isn't any skill in those games since "you just use those bombs and have infinite continues(hey I was drunk, no one credit runs here),even venturing in on foreign politics(apparently Bush wants to attack Iraq to strengthen the economy) I just wanted to cave his face in with my fist.
Its all the ignorance that I have to listen to but this time it abuses my ears, luckily he leaves after some time, after that I must say that I had a really good time playing everything from Monkey Target and SF3 to FIFA 2003.
I just started to enjoy myself and began to appreciate how lucky I was that I could share such a good time with people that share my hobby, which is a first since i was 11. I ended up sleeping on the couch for two nights and staying up until five in the morning just to have one last go on Halo. I realized that I had put to much thought on trying to make the most out of live and accomplish something that I had taken the wrong route and thereby kept myself from having a good time, I judged them to fast and put myself down.
I was aware that I was a my own mental image of a geek those two days and that I had probably always been one, never more than on that day and as you probably realize, I never was one, I just like to blow things up.

That's funny! TNLers must be avoided at all costs. ;)
Seriously though, I am not sure how that was intended, I think you may have meant that as in "of course- or it would be well known" or something... it's funny anyway though.
