GI JOE a real american Hero

This used to be my favorite show. I loved the cartoon and watched it everyday after school. I also was a huge fans of the toys and used to have hours and hours of fun. I also had a bunch or friends that had the toys so we always had a blast.

The Hovercraft toy was one of the greatest toys ever. It had a little scout sled that shot out at the press of a button. I also sent in for exclusive figures too.

Watching the old Joe shows on Cartoon Network brings back lots of memories.

My favorite GI Joe was Snake Eyes as well.

I try to catch it on Cartoon Network time to time but at its 1 AM slot I always forget.

Fav characters: Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, Cobra Commander, Beachhead, Quick Kick, Ship Wreck, Fire Fly, Destro, TriggerHappy, Baroness.

Fav eps: "The Viper", the 2-parter about the alternate dimension, and the 2-parter about Shipwreck losing his memory.

-Is it just me, or does ShipWreck remind you of Bruce Campbell?

I was a HUGE G.I. Joe fan. Watched the cartoon, played with the toys (I remember when thwey first came out- I knew they were going to be something special), and read the comic. A big Cobra fan, I was. I loved all the different armored troopers and vehicles Cobra had, and Cobra Commander was the man. I was pissed when that bastard Serpentor took over Cobra for a while, but happily Cobra Commander had his ass taken out and took rightful control of what was his.

Favorite characters: Cobra Commander, Snake-eyes, Flash, Trip-wire, The Baroness, Clutch, Scarlett, Destro, Storm Shadow, Blowtorch, Rock-N-Roll, the B.A.T.S., Night-Vipers, hell, almost any of the different Cobra vipers were cool. Cobra rules.

While the cartoon was great, the movie SUCKED!!! Fucking COBRA-LA? Cobra Commander was a snake?!? Destro yelling, "Cobra-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA!". What the HELL?? Beyond retarded. I refuse to believe that movie was ever made. :mad:

The opening to the movie more than makes up for the rest of it, but how could anyone not love Beachead's training sessions with the rawhides, or blind Roadblock lugging around half-snake half-human Cobra Commander while he whines about how he was once a man?

Best episode of the cartoon was when Zartan and the Dreadnoks had they hypnotist metal band. Cold Slither owns you for free.

Firefly was my favorite character till they made him a ninja I also liked Ace and Wild Weasel because of that issue where they had the dogfight.

Duke was giving it to Snake Eyes behind the scenes.

YES, I so totally remember that issue with Ace and Wild Weasel! They each had a co-pilot- Ace had Lady Jaye, and Wild Weasel had The Baroness. Great tatical dogfighting in that issue, and the way they both saluted each other in the end when they had both run out of ammo- that was a nice touch.

Another great story (it ran 2 issues) was when G.I. Joe had to go to Afasganistan to retrieve a downed spy plane and ended up running into and fighting their Russian counterparts, October Force, whom they ended up teaming up with to fight Cobra.

Snake Eye's origin issue was good, too. And what about the one issue with no words whatsoever (where Snake Eyes rescues Scarlett from Destro's castle)? That was interesting.

G.I. Joe was one of my favorites, right up there with Voltron.

My favorite good characters: Airtight, Duke, Flint, Roadblock, Scarlett, Snake Eyes

Favorite villains: Destro, Cobra Commander, Major Bludd, The Baroness "Now whom do you serve?", Tomax & Xamot, Storm Shadow (in the Marvel Sunbow cartoon, he sides with Cobra)

DIC's attempted revival of G.I. Joe around the early 90s doesn't compare. They took out the great "G.I. Joe! A real American hero" song, for one thing. DIC didn't have as much cash as Sunbow (makers of the original cartoon) to work with.

That and they brought in lame characters like Salvo and Cap. Gridiron, and they made General Hawk look like a dork.

I use to be crazy over G.I. JOE. Best episodes where the one where the Joes and Cobra teamed up to fight some drug dealers, then at the end Cobra double crossed em, and made off with the drug money. That or the one where Cobra went after the Joes' families. Not much beats Cobra riding through an Indian reservation on four wheelers, shooting the place up with automatic rifles, and kidnapping some native Americans to use as mindless drones hell bent on killing their G.I. JOE relatives...

Glad to see some Joe fans here, thought I was the only one.

Sgt Slaughter seemed lie a odd choice given the fact he was also a Wrestler.

The "Fridge" William Perry was also a mail away figure, and even worse Rocky was slated to be a Gi Joe member, though the idea was nixed.

Image has a new line of Joe comics out which are pretty cool.

I don't think I ever watched the show (until a few here and there recently), but I watched the movie all the time and bought the action figures. Back then it was all about the Transformers movie and the GI Joe movie. However, a little while back I bought the Transformers movie on dvd, and to my surprise after all these years I found it was a very enjoyable movie with a badass soundtrack. I seen the GI Joe movie a little bit later and felt physically ill because of it. That movie is horrible! My favorite part is when Duke gets bludgeoned with a snake, and we see the wound over his heart. The scene cuts to someone, then back to Duke, but now the wound is on the other side! Cut back to someone, then back to Duke, and the wound moves back! The worst thing the Joe movie brought to my life was for some reason a couple of my friends took to saying, "Nemesis Enforcer, protect me!" in these high-pitched whiney voices. One day we were walking to a class in High School and they started doing that and I told them to shut up but they just got louder and louder (with a bunch of people staring at them), the bastards. Anyone get the Street Fighter toys in the Joe style? Those things sucked, and the fact they carried guns was idiotic. The best were the vehicles they had like Sagat's Ultra Armored Attack Jeep.

I dont remember it at all.....I'm gonna watch the 2nd part of GIJOE soon...I've been trying to relive my youth through watching this on cartoon network.
I dunno...I dont get that same feeling anymore...used to think it was me getting older. I bet you it was that damn Sgt. slaughter...god i hate him.

But I bought the Transformers Seasons 1 and 2 (part 1) box set and well...I TOTALLY felt like a kid again.

I had virtually EVERY freakin toy and read the comic. I loved that every episode had a huge gunfight in which everyone always missed! :lol:

I think anyone will agree with me, the opening to G.I.Joe is probably one of the most memorable animated experiences in the history of animation!

The GI Joe movie DVD has all of the cheesy public service announcements they did. I went through some of the keepers in a different thread. I'm collecting the current GI Joe comic from Image and have various issues from the marvel run. The silent issue turned out that way because they didn't have enough time to write a script for the issue.

If anyone is interested, it comes on everyday weekday at midnight. Plus if you buy one GI Joe action figure at Fred Meyer you get a free promotion video of GI joe.

GI Joe is awesome. I didnt used to be a huge fan, but when i got older, people kept telling me i looked like The Baroness from GI Joe. so i watched a few eps, looked at some pics and stuff, and its true o________O I even have the glasses and stuff. Her real name (anastasia) is even hella close to my real name (nastassya.)
I cant help but love a character thats almost me anyway! XD

Oh, dude! My friends and I have so much fun watching them, and picking at the awkwardness of the situations.

Ex: ( Two kids playing in medicine cabinet in the bathroom ) *something to the effect of* "Let's try out some of the medicine!" All of a sudden, Doc appears in the window to save the day by stopping them from taking whatever they find.

Now...let's analyze. First of all, a black man in a suburban neighborhood, in a bright colored outfit appears in your window...I'm pretty sure they didn't show the neighbors calling the cops about an escaped prisoner looking into someone's bathroom. Obviously, they didn't show the rest of the service announcement where Doc gets hauled off to jail!

The creepiest public service announcement was the one where the kids were playing in the pond and Deep Six rises from the bottom to give them saftey tips.

Why was he hanging out at the bottom of a pond kids were swimming in?

Prowl ( voiced by Micheal Bell, the same actor who voiced Duke on G.I.Joe, and Cyclops on The X-Men 80's cartoon ( it was a one-shot ), as well as Lion-O from the Thundercats ). ;)

It was pretty good if it's the one I'm thinking of. It had an australian Wolverine and the subtitle had something do to with Kitty Pryde, and that awesome X-Men arcade game was based on it.

Yep, correct. That is, by FAR one of the best cartoons to come out of that decade.

The canadian wolverine was awesome, I remember seeing a few eps of the old old X-men. You couldnt understand a word he said practically, and he had that hideous brown and yellow costume....but he was still badass :D

I still have that one spisode of the xmen cartoon on videotape with Transformers the Movie. It was called Pryde of the X-Men, and dealt with Shadowcat joining the X-Men. It cracked me and my older brothers up at the time to hear Wolverine and his Aussie accent. We had been reading the comics for so long that we sorta always imagined him sounding a certain way. Then the cartoon comes along and you hear him say stuff like "NRRRRRRRRRKEEEEET!" or some shit.

Yep, I passed up on the original release ( w/ the good cover art ) about 10 years back ( it was a lot of money for me then ), but I found it on ebay about a year back. :)
