Hey:
This has already been posted.
I don't know who "us" is, but they sure as hell weren't speaking for me in that article. EW only spoke with American developers and barely mentioned the Japanese scene. Evidently, Atari's contributions to gaming are more monumental than Nintendo's.

The Sims Online has high speed bike chases and badass swordplay?Quote:
In his landmark 1992 cyberpunk novel Snow Crash, author Neal Stephenson imagined a computer-accessible ''metaverse'' where the logged-on could take on ''avatars,'' hang out, fall in love, and play, play, play. In a word: live. What was once fiction is now reality, thanks to the Internet. On Dec. 17, Will Wright will release his highly anticipated The Sims Online, in which you can ''live'' in a virtual environment peopled by avatars created by thousands of other gamers (see page 38).
I should get a subscription. :)

Interesting article. At least they didnt resolve to mindless bashing of violent games :)
They said that the Xbox can burn CDs. It's a good thing nobody reads EW, or that would be a headache to straighten out for customers.
The only worthwhile thing in that issue was a full-page ad announcing Futurama on Adult Swim.
You guys don't seem to be getting the point. It's not how well written or accurate the article is, it's the perspective that they're finally taking. I mean sure, plenty of mainstream publications talk about games now, but there's a big difference between pointing out GTA sales and flat out giving games as much, or more, respect as movies. Pointing out a miniscule inaccuracy with the article's knowledge of an individual game or feature because you're a hardcore asshole doesn't make any difference :p
In a recent Business Week cover article Larry Probst the CEO of EA was heralded as the new Michael Eisner and EA as the new Disney...
That's ironic since EA is OWNED by Disney.
