What was your most anticipated game release ever

What was your most anticipated game release ever?

mine was hands down smb3. after reading about it for months in NP and then seeing the movie the wizard, i would dream every night about being able to play it.
for some reason a local movie rental store near my house had a copy to rent for 2 weeks before it was released. i got my mom to go check EVERDAY for those two weeks for me if it was in, with no avail...FINALLY the day I actual found it in a retail store, there was only one left hanging up on the wall, i grabbed it to go find my mom, and some kid snagged it out of my hand...now i have never been a violent person, but i was infuriated...i squared up and pushed that kid's ass straight to the ground...he dropped the game, i grabbed and ran...my box still has a ding in the corner from when i must have hit the ground...

...damn you videogame armageddon!...look what you had done to me...

I'd have to say Ikaruga. There were a lot of highly anticipated games in my short (so far) lifespan, but this baby was king. Including my deliberation period of actually buying the arcade board and disc of it just to have it sooner (about $2000). One day, I will have the arcade version...

Toukon Retsuden 2. I loved the first game with a passion, and the great unknown of the sequel made me anticipate the game even more.

Street Fighter 2 for snes.

A close second is probably going to be Final Fantasy Tactics Advance.

It would have to be for Goldeneye 007. I saw movies and got giddy from it.

After playing Mortal Kombat II religiously for so long, I started to anticipate Mortal Kombat 3. I remember I bought the strategy guide before I even had the game just so I could read up on all the characters. I remember eating at the Food Court and I saw MK3 in the arcade next to it (Pocket Change). I had no money but I remember the machine was a beaut!

I finally got the game and was underwhelmed. What a let down :(.

Metal Gear Solid 2.
Steel Battalion.
Final Fantasy X.
Super Mario Sunshine.

Pretty much a four way tie.

I think it was TMNT II for NES. I would take my Nintendo Power everywhere and look at the screenshots and maps over and over, and even made up songs about when I would get the game. And when I got it, it was the happiest day of my life. Or not.

Close second would probably be Street Fighter II SNES. Me and my brother spent hours actually writing down which characters we would pick and talking about how we would kick each other's asses in a match. Good times.
