That's part of what made it great. A far better game than FF2(4), in all respects. Although 2(4) is a great game as well. Just not a better game.

because it was so open ended the story suffered as did the character development
and ive gone through VI 2 times i dont think i could ever ever ever go through it again
you have to do SO MUCH LEVELING UP in that game seriously easily have my time in that game is spent at the end leveling up all the lame ass characters i didnt use during the game because you have to use everyone at the end
Shadow, Cyan, and Sabin were the only characters i really liked from it

IV all the way. It was a revelation when it came out.
A few years later, VI seemed like more of the same to me.
Played FF3 for about 4 -5 hours today, im about 13 hours into the game and havent gotten stuck anywhere.
I have opened the gate....
The story has picked up for the better also...
Does anyone know if there was translations of the Final Fantasy games that we didnt get in the USA either in rom translation or through some psx compilation etc. ?
Damnit I just dug through my pile of non played games and realised i have FF anthlogies for the psx...
Which has the FF3 usa and FFv...
Im playing my FF3 snes cart atm, is there any reason to want to play it on the Anthologies disc?
I constantly see people saying that IV had a better story, and I'll never understand why. IV had:
1) A main boss that came completely out of nowhere.
2) Many ridiculously nonsensical parts (We need to get to the moon. Hmm, how can we get there? OF COURSE! A GIANT FUCKING WHALE that was raised through praying!).
3) Stupidly cookie cutter characters that had no real personality (the only character who was even mildly interesting was Kain, and then you find out he wasn't really being a bad guy, he was just mind controlled. Dumb).
Whereas VI had actual character development (Terra learning to love, Celes learning that people can change, Shadow going from complete mercenary to semi-decent guy, etc.), a main boss you knew you were going head to head with the entire story, and not nearly the same level of "We just made this up to advance the plot" crap that infuses IV.
Not that IV was a bad game, I just think that because it came out earlier, people tend to look at it through nostaligia-colored glasses.

thatll mean the only ones we havent seen will be III and XI there are translated roms of II and III out there on the net
