Anyone else have the G4 Channel?

So I'm flipping through the channels just now and I come across this channel G4 which I have never noticed before (I have Time Warner Digital Cable BTW) and a show is on where two teams are squaring off with Unreal Tournament 2003, Mechwarrior and Capcom VS Snk 2 for points. I checked what was coming up afterwards and all the following shows are game related, so uh yeah I guess we got us a channel for games now? Is this old news to you guys? Drop some info if you already knew about all this, cause it's news to me, and if you didn't know about it either, check and see maybe you have it too!

It's been around for about a year or so I think. I haven't seen it yet though, due to my cable company either not carrying it, or them only carrying it for digital cable subscribers only.

Damn I can't believe I never noticed it before, it must have just been added to Time Warners lineup. That's pretty cool though, I know alot of you here don't like shows like Extended Play but that's what I'm expecting this channel to be like, which is just fine with me. I don't care about the dumbass hosts and cheesy commercials that I am already witnessing, I just like seeing all the game footage and news on a TV screen as opposed to searching it out online

EDIT - Man these hosts are pathetically funny on this show. These two kids are facing off in Capcom Vs SNK2 and they keep calling Haohmaru "Homo-ru" :lol:

Give it a week, you will hate it. Well, most of it. DO NOT subject yourself to Portal. As a matter of fact the channel is great, except Portal.

Yeah I caught the end of that show Portal, it was pretty uh...unique:confused:

Honestly though, I don't see how I could get sick of seeing videogame footage, although I will admit the hosts are a bit too fruity so far, and obviously don't play games very much, which I guess is alright but leads to some funny pronounciations...well at least the hosts in Arena, hopefully the others are a bit better.

the G4TV.com show is fucking lame. those blockheads dont know ANYTHING. i swear to god one of the girls said something about a 'PS2 Live' thing.

gah. lame lame lame. most of the shows arent that great though... they need to hire people who actually PLAY games. people like us.

By the way I just saw some footage of Steel Battalion finally and all I gotta say is :eek: I had no idea that game looked THAT good. I know you might be thinking "Well why don't you just download vids off the net Doug?" Well because my computer sucks and my monitor is fucked, it's brightness is getting less and less, so I wouldn't be able to see shit anyways. But yeah I know why all of you guys were so blown away by Steel Battalion in those first impressions now, that game looks amazing

G4 is just awful, but it's about games, so I watch it. G4.com or whatever the hell it is is the worst show ever though. That's the one with the wacky guy who's never played a game before, the girl who thinks she's Pink, and the kinda cute, yet vastly annoying girl. They all have stupid nicknames, and they all do some really dumb shit, like imaginary high fives. It's terrible.

Yeah that's how I feel as well, we're not exactly overflowing with videogame shows to watch on TV, so I will take what I can get. The G4tv.com show is coming up in a little bit so I guess I will see just how horrid it really gets. But I don't really see how it can get any worse than the "Gamegrub" commercials or whatever the hell they are called. Man those two guys on there are complete dumbasses

i've watched it at my Grandpa's house... he has digital cable...

It's pretty bad. The hosts are terrible... however, it is nice to preview games in action on your TV

I haven't seen the channel yet but Time Warner Digital Cable just started airing it here. My boss is getting a TV and TW Digital for our store so we can have G4 playing all day long.... I can already see myself getting sick of it.

What exactly is it about? I caught the last minute or so of the episode last night and it was just some guy chasing a monster around or something, it looked sort of like a cg cartoon.

Portal is supposed to be like a Travel Log for all the MMORPG online worlds (the host acts like they are real places) and they also have various tips and guides for those games. Lately they have been going off doing little on going stories staring made up characters like the Drifter (the hero), the Ultimate (the big bad guy) and a bunch of other stupid guys from all the online games. I don't play these MMORPGs but this show cracks me up, they did a LotR spoof, a game show spoof and just a bunch of silly crap.

It is a nice breaking from their other shows with the "pretty" host talking about games they have never played while you look at game footage.

Sure Portal is nerdy, cheesy and lame but it is supposed to be that way and that what makes the show so much fun.

Wow speak of the devil, Portal is on now :D

Yeah I'm watching it right now. It's very corny, but one look at my avatar will tell you corny shows are something I can not only endure, but enjoy. The whole fashion designer bit was pretty funny though
