Alright for christmas i got a 32'' sony wega and the colors are having a wee bit of problem. Sometimes real bright reds and yellows will have staticy white lines throughout the color becaus the calibration is all wrong. Does anyone either know which setting to lower or where I could find the DVD to help with that. Or is there anyway beside buying the dvd or hiring someone because I'm a cheap ass :D

As for the TV, Wegas are known to have problems sometimes. If you can't fix the problem, exchange it for another one.
This will be my response for all questions like this from now on:
1. Go to Best Buy.com and get "Avia: Guide to Home Theatre" DVD. Is it expensive? YES. Is it worth it's weight in Gold? Absolutely. Without looking at the TV, and having owned and worked with Wega's I recommend that you change the color temp to "Warm". Put "Picture at around 45-50 percent. Brightness and color should be around 30-40 percent. Sharpness should be no higher than 35-40.
Intially these settings will look a little soft and a little dark. But, remember, you are used to the overly bright, saturated and washed out look that out of the box tvs are set for. Stick with those settings for about a week and you will wonder how you lived without it.
2. If you search for Yahoo topic groups or the AVS.com forums, you will find ways to go into Wega service menus and fixings some basic "problems" (Red Push, oversaturation, overscan) that exist. Do this at your own risk but, IMHO, it's not that hard.

Quick question about sharpness, I seemed to get the best picture quality with it at zero (I dont know much about anything with calibration). Would it be better at the 35% area, or keep it at 0?
They sell a disc called Home Theater Learning Place that's the same price as the Avia discs, but has some extra shit on it. Check that one out.
It's also made by the same people.
If that's what looks good, then I guess that's good but what I learned quickly was that what initially looks good is not nessassarily correct. I really would recommend picking up a calibration disc. In fact, sometimes I've seen them at larger libraries...or you can pluck one off ebay.Quote:

Yes, your sharpness needs to be very low. Also turn the edge enhancement completely off.

Just a second ago I was moving my stuff around (I am moving in and so everything is on the floor and I'm too lazy to set it up so I was moving the stuff around) and I had an open computer I;ve been working with next to the TV and it turned green (I'm not extactly sure when it turned green) so I moved the xbox and the computer away from the area and turned it off. When i turned it back on it was fine again but is there something in the computer (harddrive?) that is magnetic???

I found a tutorial for the wega service menu but its really complicated. I did what you said with the settings but its still having color problems. Bright red and yellow have problems. I was watching eddie murphy stand up in a red leather suit and it was so intense it was putting big blue dots on it. Which item(s) would I look at in the service menu to fix this? Most of the stuff I saw (there was tons) were relating to geometry.
Oh, and the magnetic interference was from the beta waves off an old power supply on the computer
Hmmm...if you tried turning the color down and it did nothing, I would suggest contacting the store you got it from and getting it checked out for free or exchanging it for another one, just to be sure...
Why go messing with the service menu and possibly screwing something up? Have a professional fix it since it's under warranty or get another one...
