I think most people here were just letting off steam, Aurora. That woman, the one whose suing over GTA, is just try to extort money.

I guess I'm just dumbfounded by how something like this can get people's panties all bunched up so easily. I mean, it's not going to effect you. People have been blaming video games for all sorts of shit for the longest time. And they get more violent and controversial each yr.

aurora it most certainly effects us. if more people like this win more lawsuits it could take away one of our hobbies. after this they could turn to movies and music and then the internet. granted none of these things i mentioned are life altering in the least but thats my explanation. also, while they may get riled up about this woman, you at the same time are letting them rile you up are you not ;)

and yes we get riled up about this hobby of ours but what do you expect in a videogame board :)

Dragonmaster Dyne, it won't affect anything. It never has. Video games have always caused a stir, but they continue to get more controversial. I'm willing to be the majority of parents don't give a damn what their kid is playing. "They're just dumb video games" is what I know a lot say.

Aurora, people are behaving lie this because it seems that like atleast once a month we are exposed to blatant stupidity like this. Not only that people actually win cases like these even though it was their own fault in the first place.

Then there is the fact that there is a movement to ban violent games despite the fact that studies show no correlation between violence and violent videogames and that games have rathings on them and retailers are forbidden by law to sell these to minors without parental consent.

Then there is the media always trying to blame videogames on just about every violent act atleast once a week. I mean do you really think a game like doom can make a person so mentally unstable that he goes on a killing spree?

Why should we gamers give up our favourite hobby when videogames don't even do harm to people in the first place. And don't we have a right to be irritated when people blame videogames for something when they don't even have any proof showing that it can make someone do that, and when it was the person who bought the game despite the rating cearly on the box?
