If the rooms are next to each other, it shouldn't be hard to drill a small hole in the wall and get a wire through. But the lag with a wireless router wouldn't be bad; unless, as I said, you were to host a game.

Depending on the tv, yes. But what good is that going to do? The internet connection goes into the console directly, not into the tv.

The connection is going from his computer, though. So if he wanted to go with wires, he'd need a hole in the wall, unless he went wireless, or just went around the wall.
The computer could be in the same room. Mine is....
