I'm looking for a way to wirelessly connect my consoles using a broadband connection. Anyone have any idea if there's any kind of adapters that plug into the back of the X Box, PS2, or GC that will let me connect wirelessly to a network?

I am kinda clueless with these things, but I guess you could use a hub? http://www.xbconnect.com/Help/WET11.htm
Wireless routers. But they'r expensive, and they tend to be more laggier. They can be had for about 150 bucks. Check LinkSYS's website.
Oh, routers is what I meant, I think...
*hides*
Those pics look right!!! ahaha
Or wait...

Take your medicine like a man, son :p
But I hate cherry flavoured! :(
Wouldn't having everything hooked up to one wireless source kill the speed? And does the fact that it's wireless effect the speed?
Yes. The signal is going through walls to the router which would slow it down, whereas if it was going through a Cat5/Cat6 cable, it'd be direct.
Thanks for the input guys. I saw the Linksys WET11 wireless ethernet bridge thanks to the link posted above. I think that's what I'll be getting. Anyone know how much more lag you'd get if the room was no more than about 25 feet away?
Maybe a ping around 150. Still pretty good, but you'll lag out if your try hosting in a broadband only game. Why not just get a normal router if it's only 25 feet, though?
I have a router now, but it's in another room. I just bought a house and I'm trying to avoid having to run cables throughout it, but with the lag issues it's starting to sound like the better option.Quote:

Congrats on the house, man.
If the rooms are next to each other, it shouldn't be hard to drill a small hole in the wall and get a wire through. But the lag with a wireless router wouldn't be bad; unless, as I said, you were to host a game.
Thanks dude. I wonder if I should list it in this weeks haul. :lol:Quote:

Well,l if you already have a router in a room....this may be a stupid question...but couldn't you just put all the consoles onto one tv ?
Depending on the tv, yes. But what good is that going to do? The internet connection goes into the console directly, not into the tv.
As you shouldQuote:

"Final Fantasy 7 - check
Xbox Live - check
Mech Assault - check
brand new house - check"
Because he wouldn't have to drill holes in the walls, durr... ;pQuote:

Unless he plans on having other people in the house on at the same time...
The connection is going from his computer, though. So if he wanted to go with wires, he'd need a hole in the wall, unless he went wireless, or just went around the wall.
The computer could be in the same room. Mine is....

Umm...yeah, if he had the computer and TV in the same room...that would avoid running cables through the WALLS. Do you even read? *rolls eyes*Quote:

That's EXACTLY why I asked him "can't you just put all the consoles on one tv"...and then said the tv can be in the same room as the computer.
R-E-A-D
If he wanted to do that, would this thread really need to me in existance?
Maybe it hadn't crossed his mind? He didn't even KNOW about the whole wireless situation in the first place. He didn't know how it worked, etc. And even I don't, but I know what I said it possible cause my old roommate did it :)
You are now on ignore. I trust you'll do the same.
Score! :)
You see, people don't like wires all over the place, but wires doesn't equal holes in the wall. He could have just wanted things to look neat.
I dunno, though, I am not him. But, whatever his purpose is, good luck! :)
So that's why FC died down all of a sudden....Quote:

yeah, because Rich cannot accept the idea that maybe, just MAYBE, someone could have a computer, tv, and their consoles all in the same room, hee hee hee :)
TACOS!
