To me the N64 has about 5 must haves and just as many excellents. Nice system but the PSone and Saturn offered so much more across many genres. I'm not sure which is funnier, the N64 jokes or the ridiculous quotes from SpoDaddy. Keep it up.
The N64 does have "some" good games on it but its probally my least favorite sytem since the sms...
What was good was only good if you can stand that hazy blurry look...
That hazy, blurry look was no worse than the jaggies on the PS2.
Must haves:
Sin and Punishment
Super Mario 64
Goldeneye
F-Zero X
Mario Story
Excellents:
Zelda Majora no Kamen
Starfox 64
Perfect Dark
Yuke Yuke Troublemakers
Wave Race 64
Zelda OOT not mentioned as the Gamecube version has a better framerate and has Zelda URA on the same disc.
Jaggies didnt bother me as much because although what I was looking at was ugly, at least I could see it...Quote:

Also im not a Nintendo hater by any means (look at my mario phone thread for proof) :)
This just happens to be one Nintendo system I didnt like...
Strategy? But in comparison the N64 does very much pale. Especially to PSX and (oh man) The PC at that time (which most of those 'N64' games are from... and much shittier on the N). I would wager the Saturn had it better too... though I can't be sure.Quote:

I think the only people who dis on the N64, are those that let PSX blind them from looking at other consoles, as fun gaming. Not all the N64 titles suffered from blurryness and some just made the PSX games look shitty. Rogue Squadron was mighty impressive, as were Wave Race(Jet Motto looked like ass), Madden (More Polygons, than the PSX Versions) and 1080 Snowboarding( You could see the seams in the backgrounds, in Cool Boarders).
Sure Mario 64, Zelda, Mario Golf and Mario Kart 64 suffered from the blurry effect, but they still looked better than any offerings on the PSX, that were the same kind of game.
I think the N64 sucked mostly. I think it's an injustice that the N64 had more legs in the USA than the Saturn. I don't think I'm blinded by the PSX... some it's games clearly looed worse than N64 counter-parts, but just because NFL2K3 looks better on Xbox doesn't mean Xbox has a better or at least more robust library than PS2. Anyway, Jet Moto WAS ass and it was a very early release in the PSX life span. Down the line games looked better in many reguards on Playstation.
Like Crash Team Racing which was (IMO) in every way superior to Mario Kart 64. Especially in graphics. Besides 20 of the same type of platformer the N64 had no leg up on PSX, Saturn or PC at all. It was by and large a worthless piece of shit and it deserved this thread. IMO.
To this day, retailers are clogged with N64 carts and systems that they'll never get rid of at any price. At this moment, at least 4,000 employees at various game stores are curseing the very existance of the N64 (am I not right 88Mph?). At this moment, more people are having fun with Yo-Yo's than there are people haveing fun with an N64 (besides the people breaking them for kicks).
I don't hate Nintendo. I don't hate Super Mario 64 (i'm not writing it love letters either) or the two Zelda's (those are fantastic) or Sin & Punishment or Silicon Valley. I think most people who've posted before me are right. There's like a handfull of nice games in an otherwise worthless library for a poorly designed system that takes up more space than anything that crappy has a right to.
And Goldeneye my left foot... sounds like no one had played a goddamned PC before the 64 came around. There were at least 10 first-person-shooters more worth playing (and still are) released before and a little after it. The Gamecube already has more fulfuilling titles for it than the 64 ever had and from the looks of it the system may even surpass Xbox in quality and otherwise worthy titles in the coming months.
The mental image I get of someone playing a N64 is of a stuttering lobotomy patient drooling on the functionless D-pad on the absurd thrid handle.
Of course that's harsh, and demeaning to everyone who does enjoy it but that's the idea that comes to mind. Take it or leave it, love it or hate it. I'm not out to prove anything, only to say that I really, really don't like the Nintendo 64 -- And do so throughly.
To be more clear - the last part was not directed at anyone in particular. The first was systematically addressing the opinions stated by the person I quoted.

The 2 I have DMC and J&D I dont notice them that much...
I havent played DMC that much however..
Could you play these PC FPS games with 3 friends sitting right next to you without planning a time-consuming LAN party? The main advantage of the N64, for me, was that it was a great party system. People who are only interested in RPGs, shmups, and 2D fighting games aren't interested in that aspect of the console. And I think that's why everyone on this board hates the system- most TNL members aren't Nintendo's target audience.Quote:

*waits for someone to make tired joke along the lines of "You're right... TNL members aren't Nintendo's target audience, toddlers are!"*
And I can play Legacy of Goku without even having to hook up a console or buy a TV. Doesn't mean it isn't crap.Quote:

Many here like the system, especially considering that among it's small library are some of the greatest games ever made. As far as I'm concerned, a few are the greatest games ever made.Quote:
