With Green Bay, most certainly out of contention, I have a feeling that Tampa Bay may just win the NFC championship, to put them in the Super Bowl.
The Jets looked mighty impressive, but I have a feeling that the Titans have a solid team this year and have been hard to beat. I'm picking the Titans for the AFC.
I pick the Titans to run the Buc's against the wall, to win the Super Bowl 24-10.

Eagles vs Raiders
unlike 1980, Eagles win this time.
I'm hopeing for a Cleveland -v- Alanta (since they knocked out my team :mad: and Vick is just fun to watch) superbowl.:D However I think it'll end up Oakland -v- Tampa Bay. :(
I think either the Falcons or Eagles will win, all though I hope for the Giants.
Philly vs. Tennessee
I think Philly will get there with or without McNabb. Tennessee has been on fire, has the bye to rest up McNair and Kearse, and knows how to get to the Big Game.

The Eagles defense is also sensational, though..
To go with the question however I'm thinking that Tampa Bay will head on into the super bowl ( I sure hope its not Philly)...unless Atlanta suprises everyone and heads in again. I'd much rather have San Fran go but its doubtful.
On the AFC front I think we're looking at a Raiders vs Tennessse AFC championship game - unless the Jets suprise everyone!

Tampa Bay's defence means nothing. Without Brad Johnson, they're not even a playoff team; their offence is absolutely pathetic with Rob Johnson or Shaun King running it. They couldn't even score a touchdown against the sad-sack Bears, and all they got was a garbage time TD against Pittsburgh. If Brad Johnson can't go, or isn't at least 80%, what chance would they have against the Michael Strahan and the Giants? Derrick Brooks can only return so many INTs.
But, of course, that's assuming NY gets past San Fran tomorrow, heh.
Anyway, here's my picks:
Pittsburgh vs. Cleveland - honestly, no idea. The Browns are never the same team 2 weeks in a row, but they always play the Steelers tough. Still, Pittsburgh's the more complete team, and I'm betting their blitz shuts down William Green. Kelly Holcomb's not bad, but I don't think he can outscore Pittsburgh. Pick: Pittsburgh Steelers
San Fransisco vs. New York Giants - Add up the weapons, and shockingly, New York's got more. The 49ers have the game's best reciever (at least until somebody kicks some sense into Randy Moss), two decent running backs, and a QB who's the 3rd most un-sackable in the league (after Gannon and Vick). But the Giants have a 4000 yard QB (?!), a 1000 yard rusher, a 1000 yard receiver, and the league's #1 tight end, who caught for almost 900 yards. Jim Fassel, apparently, is an offensive play calling genius. Add to that one of the top 2 or 3 secondaries in the NFL, a D-line that's playing well and features the all-time single season sack champ, and the fact that they're the hottest team in the league right now (I'll take 'em over the Jets - they should have beat Philly 30-7). Pick: New York Giants
As for the super bowl? Who knows? I definitely think the Raiders will come out of the AFC, but it's impossible to call the NFC until we know which QBs are healthy. If Brad Johnson can play well, then Tampa goes all the way. But he's got a cracked vertebrae, and you don't just shrug that off. What about McNabb? Is he rusty? 100%? Or Michael Vick? He's got like 4 different injuries, including a bad thumb and 2 seperated shoulders.
So I'll say Oakland and Tampa bay if Johnson can go. If he can't, I'd actually go with New York or Atlanta (depending on whether Vick holds up).
And btw - Michael Vick = Shinobi. That stealth dash Hotsuma's got? Vick does it.
I don't see why everyone is giving the Jets no credit. They've been fucking sensational as of late, excepting the Chicago game, which wasn't on in my area, so I couldn't watch it. These guys are hungry, and they want it. They've got an awesome coach, great WRs, the most underrated RB in the league, a surprising wildcard in Johnson (who looked super-crisp last night when he subbed in for Martin) and the hottest QB in football today.

The Jets look great, but when they face a tough defensive team, it's a different story. I can't see them getting past a tough running team like Tennessee. If the Jets match up against the Raiders, I'd look for it to be a high scoring game, which the Jets have just as much chance of winning as the Raiders do. I just believe the road to the AFC title will have to go through Tennessee and they have looked just as good, as the last time they went to the Super Bowl.

Worst 4th quarter I've ever seen in my life. First, Terrel Owens is trash, and the fucking Giants, if they didn't retaliate, would have started on the fucking 49er's 22 yard life after the 2 penalties on Owens. Then the stupid mother fucking holder. If he would have spiked it or went down, the Giants had a timeout. Shockey's missed touchdown, the missed field goal. God damn, this weekend has me so fucking depressed with the Giants and Colts.

I don't think it was the Giants ineptness that lost the game. The 49'ers just came into the second half, with a great game plan and a lot of heart. The Giants thought they had the game won and did'nt have the killer instinc, the second half. The no huddle offense was the perfect idea for the second half and should be used more often by teams that have to play tough defenses like those of Tampa Bay, Giants, or Eagles. Jim Kelly pulled off the biggest comeback in NFL Playoff history, when his team came back against Houston, being down 34 to nothing and used the no huddle offense to bewilder the HOuston D.
I did feel however, that Cleveland gave the game to Pittsburg. There was only 2:30 left in the game and the Browns ran 3 pass plays, instead of running the ball. Hmm... that's just poor clock management.
It was nice to see Garcia take the game into his own hands and make a name for himself. There must be some kind of quarterback magic, in 3com park. I'm not a huge 49'ers fan (As I grew up watching the Rams) but it was nice to see them take out the Giants. It's going to be a rough road ahead for them, as the 2 best teams in the NFC are still alive. If Tampa Bay don't get them, the Eagles won't be any kind of picnic either.
It will be the Eagles. Probably the Raiders too, but that doesn't matter. The Superbowl will be the Eagles vs somebody who will lose to the Eagles. :D

Runs across the freaking field to take a shot at Owens to make sure that penalty's nullified again and gets kicked out of the game. But hey, there's still that big giant minute left, right? No problem. Sure, they could have started on the Niners' 20 with 50 seconds to go, but this is just the playoffs. Who cares?
Final play of the game. Bad snap. Bad hold. The holder could have a) spiked the ball like he's supposed to, and the Giants could have re-kicked on 4th down, b) put the ball down again so Allen could have kicked it, or c) at least thrown to an elligible reciever. The Giants' linemen could have not run down the field, which ensured that even if someone elligible had caught it, it would have been nullified and the game would have ended.
Seriously, full marks to the 49ers for not giving up and scoring all those points, but don't give me that "the Giants didn't lose due to ineptness" crap. The could have put San Fran away at least 5 times in the second half and they just fucked up every single time. Honestly, I've been a Giants fan for 14 years, but even I have to admit that's just about the worst choke job I've ever seen.

Philly and SF are beneficiaries of playing in utterly bankrupt divisions - I see Tampa Bay taking the NFC. I also think the winner of next week's game in Oakland will win it all.
I think the Jets can score in the air without establishing Martin. I like the Jets chances against Tennessee better than I like them against Oakland. IMO, Pittsburgh is the odd team out in the AFC.Quote:

yeah that was frank reich - probably his career crowning glory - jim kelly was injured for that game but i believe he did start the super bowl that year.

Tampa's overrated with our without Brad Johnson. Pittsburgh pulled their punk card two years ago, then left em' with another mushroom tattoo this year. Like Lee Flowers said, you punch the Bucs in the mouth, and they don't know how to respond. I just can't see them in the Big Game.
It's amazing how much Pittsburgh has changed their team's identity. From a smash-mouth, ball control offense with a suffocating D, they've now become a high-octane offense with a very questionable defense. I mean, who ever would have thought the Steelers would have two WR's with 1,300+ yards?
With that said, I'm still sticking with Philly-Tennessee.

The Eagles do not have a consistent running game, imo. And currently their best reciever is a 120 lbs toothpick.
McNabb puts that much more pressure on a defense unlike the dropback QBs because he adds that extra element of scrambling to sustain drives.
Time of possession is huge and I don't want the Eagles to give the ball back to Vick on three and outs.
You might be right that he's the best choice, but McNabb isn't the threat he could be, coming off a broken foot. A healthy McNabb would make a world of difference, but I just don't see Philly's offense putting up numbers with him injured.

The Giant's starting running back was injured. The broadcasters even talked about it. Sure the Giants shot themselves in the foot, but to lay blaim on Shockey is crazy. That pass in the endzone was'nt exactly reciever friendly and Shockey was literally falling down backwards when the pass came to him.
The kicking game for the Giants was very lame and did cost them the game, but I felt that the Giants offense was pretty much cold, in the second half, much like the 49'ers offense was cold the first half. When San Francisco had thier offense on the field, most of the 2nd half, the Giants really could'nt get in a rythym. The very same problem SF had the first half.

You know, I have to say when Fassel elected to go for that 40+ yard field goal on that 4th-and-1 instead of just going for the extra yard, running out the clock, and ending the game, I just kept thinking to myself. "Dave Campo" over and over again, seriously.
Why? Because that is the EXACT same thing that happened to the Cowboys back on December 8. And I mean in the EXACT same situation and Fassel did the EXACT same thing Campo did, and the EXACT same thing resulted: missed field goal, Niners got ball back, marched downfield, and scored the GW touchdown. Seriously. How the fuck could Fassel make the exact same damn mistake in the exact same damn situation that blew up in Campo's face against the exact same team just a month ago?

Eagles have the ability to contain the Falcons offence.
Falcons have no where near the ability to contains the Eagles so well... even with Injured McNabb.
Atlanta isn't going to be running that ball sucessfully aside from a potential Vick scrable. The Eagles however, will run the ball all over the field. My words. Mark them.

Lest we forget that the Eagles have easily the second best defence in the leauge... and it's one comparable to Tampa Bay's Defence which works wonders against out-of-the-pocket QBs.
Eagles have the ability to contain the Falcons offence.
Falcons have no where near the ability to contains the Eagles so well... even with Injured McNabb.
Atlanta isn't going to be running that ball sucessfully aside from a potential Vick scrable. The Eagles however, will run the ball all over the field. My words. Mark them.

Yes the Eagles do have a great Defense and thier blitz packages are almost undefendable. I can't see Vick and company surviving against a solid Defensive team like the Eagle or Tampa Bay. The 49'ers however, would have a hard time containing the Falcons. The eagles remind me of the Giants team that went to the Super Bowl a couple years back. They had a solid running team with an average passing game and a tough defense. With McNabb's foot in question though, it leaves the passing game in a more one dimensional style of offense. McNabb's scrambleing abilities, are something that the Eagles offense has sorely missed the past month.

Well, that's exactly what we need with all of Jones' draft-day bungling since Jimmy left. We've had one really good draft since then and that was last year's. With some of the quality young talent this team has in Roy Williams, Antonio Bryant, Derek Ross, Andre Gurode, and (though the jury's still out on this one) Chad Hutchinson, Parcell's has something to work with and build on. I'm sure he'll do wonders with this coming year's draft too.Quote:

And the Cowboys still finished the season with a marginally better record, though for an expansion franchise in their first year of existence, 4-12 is pretty damned impressive. The one game that sticks out in my mind is a Denver-KC AFC Championship game, in 98, I believe. Rich Gannon was on a complete tear for the Chiefs, but Elvis Grbac was healed and got the start, despite my many calls to Marty Schottenheimer. Sure enough, the Chiefs lost, mainly because Grbac was rusty.
I don't see McNabb being mobile enough to be a ground threat, and I don't see the Eagles' offense being effective enough without it.

Actually, the Cowboys are in desperate need of a tactician. The offense needs a solid offensive coordinator, that can make the most out of the talent available on offense. When's the last time we've seen a tight end, catch a pass for the Cowboys? The Cowboys offense has been so vanilla the last 3 years, that defenses have had no problem figuring out the boys gameplan. The Defense is pretty solid and if not for them, the Cowboys would'nt have had half a chance in the games they've won. Parcells needs to bring in some offensive lineman and a talented Tight End, to make this offense worthy of playing on Sunday.
Also! The Jets and Patriots had dismal season's, before Parcells came to town. I was listening on the radio, about the success that Parcells brought to both of those teams. Neither the Pats, nor the Jets had been in the playoffs, the prior season, before Parcells came to town. He took the Pats, to the Super Bowl, only to lose to the Cowboys, and the Jets to the playoffs as well. So, it's not like he does'nt know what he's doing, nor pure luck, that those teams had a sudden turn around.
I'm not saying he doesn't know what he's doing. I'm saying is that he hasn't won a Super Bowl since he was with the Giants, for all the hype he gets.

I don't need to hang my head because the Cowboys lost to the Texans because the Texans were a pretty damned good team for their first season in the league, and the Boys were nowhere near as good as HBO's Hard Knocks may have made them look. It wasn't a David vs. Goliath situation, the teams ultimately ended up being about on-par with one another. Hell, at least Houston could fucking score consistently the entire season. If we had their offense to go with our defense this past year, we'd be in the playoffs right now, probably with a first round bye ;)

Like I said, I don't necessarily expect him to build this team into a Super Bowl contender anytime soon. I don't understand this kind of logic. The only reason I care about the Jets getting into the playoffs is because they get a shot to win it all. I agree with Rags on many points except one: The part about The Texans' Offence with the Cowboys Defence would really not a better team make. After wins the Texans would average 3 pts a game. The Texans have some of the starts of a great offence, but there is no O-Line and no mentionable backs (something that even a perhaps deteriorated E. Smith is, but even 50% of Smith is better than the Texans two rookie backs combined.) plus our best recivers are still not used to catching Carr's Rail-Gun style passes. Gaffney ( a rookie) Miller (a rookie) and Dawson (a rookie, I think) all show promise but nearly all of them have demonstrated problems in catching perfect passes. The Texans did not and will not foreseeably (in the next 2 - 3 years) win by scoreing more than thier opponets, they win by keeping thier opponets from scoreing more than them. That is the first thing I expected when I first heard Dom Capers was going to be the Texans Head Coach. The defence for both teams is good, each team has had occasions where the defence showed greatness. Both teams also have weak o-lines and have not this year eastablished a respectable running games (aside for carrer-long records being broken by Smith). While I belive that Carr is pro-bowl material in the near future (as soon as he gets a line that can give him just 3 seconds at least... no more need for those 1.5 sec releases) when things shape up and The Cowboys really don't have much in the way of a really bright QB but I think if he gets more time and experience Quincy Carter could be pretty good.

The Cowboys O-line has been pretty dismal, but Emmit Smith was 75 yards shy of another 1,000 yard season. I blaim that more on the implosion the Cowboys team went through, their last 3 games as they could'nt generate any offense. Quincy Carter is on his way out. After that 4 interception game he had, his future is very questionable. Chad Hutchinson showed a lot of promise, but only when the O-line gave him protection, which was not very often. Either way, I don't see Carter staying in Parcell's game plan and Huntchinson will probably be the second string Quarterback, behind a seasoned veteran, that can help Hutchinson develope his skills, as the talent is there, but the ability to make adjustments is'nt.
