Official OZ last season thread...

Fontana himself said that when the series ends, several of the story threads WILL remain unresolved because "Even after the series ends, life will go on in prison for many of these guys, even after OZ." Or something like that.

Yeah, there was a lot of outrage over in the OZ boards on hbo.com about Cyril's non-execution. It pissed the holy hell out of a lot of people. I guess that's what happens when Ryan, Dean Winters, Cyril's real-life brother, is on the writing team.

I swear, if the series ends with every member of the O'Reilly family coming out of the series A-OK, it will be one of the most convoluted things ever. All the evil things Ryan's either done or orchestrated since the series began has been building up some seriously bad karma, and he's GOT to get his comeuppance at some point before the end of the series.

Fontana does both shows. And like 88 said, it's only 3 or so of the cast members- O'Riley, Shillinger, and Keller come to mind. Maybe Beecher too.

*EDIT* Oh, well, perhaps there's more than 3 or 4, but certainly not "almost everyone". ;)

Fontana also said that, here and there, he might write and post an Oz story on the HBO site, so things aren't totally ending...

Yeah, I heard their brother was one of the writers. Sweet deal for Ryan and Cyril. ;) And I can't blame the outrage, it was the worst story decision that they've made during the entire series' run. What a waste.

I think even Dean Winters has got to realize what a stupid decision it would be to save Cyril's life at the last minute like this and how it would tick off fans.

I'm thinking they're planning on pulling a bait and switch tactic on us. Cyril is saved at the last minute by the phone call, gets off death row, then something happens in the last episode where either he gets killed protecting Ryan or Ryan gets killed protecting him, leaving the surviving brother all alone. Something that compounds the tragedy like that seems very OZ-ish. Plus, you can't discount the poetic justice of Ryan being killed or Cyril dying as punishment for Ryan, bringing the saga full circle. The first episode of OZ, Ryan orchestrates Dino Ortelani's death and that of countless inmates since then, and in the series last episode, he gets his final comeuppance. THAT would be some good drama.

Heh. I actually joked with my friends back when Spiderman came out that there would be a scene where Parker submits some photos to J. Jonah Jameson and he would hate them and rape Tobey up the ass. :)

Just a quick note, Chuck Zito has been added to the New York book signing. Cool, I can ask him about knocking out Jean Claude Van Damme with one punch... ;)
