Living Alone vs Living with others

Living alone is pretty cool, and I think it would be hard to live with someone else now that I'm used to living this way.

It had its advantages, though. Doing what you want and when you want at any time of the night, not having to worry about waking someone else.

I'm sure living with a buddy has its perks too, but I can't think of any.

So who likes living alone? Or who always needs the company of someone else?

i think if i lived alone i would slowly go insane. I talk to myself too much as it is, with no one around to watch out for i would do it all the time and turn into some crazy old hermit

I prefer living alone, but I also like living with people as long as they're the right people. I've had both awesome roommates and roommates I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.

I know many are obvious, but can someone list some pros and cons to living w/ and w/o a roommate?

I always thought I'd want to live alone, but it hasn't turned out quite as well as I thought. It's kinda hard to come home from work to an empty apartment night after night. :(

living with someone can be cool if you both have that, uh, "roommate vibe" uh thing. You can sense and respect each other's boundaries but still get along and hang out, it's like living with a good friend but them not driving you crazy.

The biggest draw back to living with people is you're very vulnerable. I got stuck with a $400 phone bill due to a scumbag roommate and there wasn't really anything I could do about it. A bigger scumbag could have done much worse if they wanted to.

I'd prefer to live alone.

I do not want to share the bathroom with anyone.
Bastards eating shit from the fridge.
You dont have to keep quiet and somehow pull a shinobi act when your roommate brings a girl over.

Besides, you won't be too lonely since your friends will come over A LOT anyways.



I guess the only positive is splitting the rent. :/

Living alone:
+ you can do what you want when you want.
+ free reign on all the appliances; games, TV, stove, et al.
+ you feel like you have more room, even in smaller appartments.
- you are alone. If you like that, make it another plus.
- bills are handled through you exclusively. Can't blame anyone for a high electric bill or anything =p
- every nuance is on your shoulders. You may suck at cooking or cleaning, but you're on your own for it. Unless you can afford take-out every night.

I live with my girlfriend. I have never lived alone.
