Taking pictures of your pet as it lays dying, dead, and its subsequent burial is pretty odd. Though I guess putting things on your pet's head and taking pictures of it is equally odd.

That is really depressing.
I dont think Oolong was abused - the owner seems to have treated him well and loved him, and he just liked to put shit on its head. Its like when I turn my dog's ears inside out... she has floppy ears (they never perked up for some reason). It doesnt mean its abuse.
But the fact the rabbit died is sad as hell.

Actually I find the pictorial of Oolong's passing very touching. His owwner recorded Oolong's strange life habits and gave us a pictorial of his peaceful bunny death. He lived a rich and amusing life and I'm actually depressed that he's gone.

Have you ever seen a Turtle run? They're damn fast, plus the fact I wasn't watching it when I was cleaning out its habitat kiddie pool thing didn't help much.
Yeah, turtles can actually move pretty fast when they want too. You'd be suprised just how fast they can mount a getaway :)

Yeah, I looked at the site a bit too...it's almost surreal, like the bunny was his best friend. -and there are a helluvalot of entries. Like, he chronicled the life of this rabbit. I randomly clicked through some to see if there were any funny balancing pics, and came across some nasty pics of the bunny's tumor surgery on it's face or something. It was definitely *not* cute.
Ah well.
I dont know this rabbit from the next, I just know that Mech had him in his sig a while back... I just find this pic really depressing. It's like he lost a best friend. Reminded me of when my cocker spaniel died when I was in 10th grade :(Quote:

I am also hurt that Pancake Bunny is no longer with us, and I foresee an over abundance of sig's and avatars of Pancake Bunny to reflect our mourning.
Though, I think they should probably be resized to moderate levels. He would have wanted it that way.
Awww... That was a great rabbit. I think it's silly to say his owner abused him. Looking at that web site I think it's pretty obvious that the guy loved that rabbit.
Poor Oolong. :( His owner must be so sad. He obviously loved that rabbit. I dunno if the guy lives with anybody else, but it almost seems like he lives alone on that farm of his. I hate losing pets, and to have a pet that's your only companion die must be awful. :(
the bunny didnt die of heart failue or whatever it was...it got a brain tumor from all that stuff being put on his head
I'm kind of in the same boat. My Bichon Frise is currently 10 years old (11 this May). She has been such a good dog through all this time... It'll be a grievous day when she dies. :( She's not having any serious health problems at the moment, but this did make me think.Quote:

I had a pet bunny. She died when she was 6 years old. I wasn't even home. I came home to find her in rigor mortis. It was the most shocking thing to me, at 12 years old. Seeing these photos makes it hard not to fog up a little.
Losing a pet is a really horrible thing. My cocker spaniel was in horrible health a few months ago, at only 7 years old with a kidney problem the poor thing didn't even have the strength to stand up anymore. Putting him to sleep was probably the best thing for him once he slipped into a coma, but I still feel guilty I didn't give him every chance he could have. The house is always way too quiet these days.

In time probably, but not anytime soon. We tend to take extended visits away from home right now not to mention we plan on relocating a couple of times in the next 2 years, it would be a terrible inconvenience to have another pet right now. My friend just got a new puppy recently though and after meeting it for 15 minutes I'm seriously fighting temptation.
Heh - I could only imagine - but its been many many years since I've had a pet and those were two hamsters... it surprises me how little I tend to remember or think of them - its only when something akin to the topic reminds me of it that I think of them. There was a 5 year ish gap in between my last dog, and the dog I have now. Of course, There was a stray cat that I started to feed, then when it got pregnant we took 2 kittens, and the neighbor took the mom and one kitten. Gizmo died of congestive heart failure when he was 1, Bouncer lost a leg when she was 2 to a snake, that was quite a while back, and she acts like that leg was dead weight to her...
Other than my turtle running away twice, I've witnessed 2 of my cats being hit in front of my house, in almost exact spots about a year apart from each other (well one was mine, the other was my dad's). As it is my current cat isn't doing well at all, though the vet says the swollen kidneys and enflamed hypothalmus kinda offset each other to further stop rapid deterioration of her kidneys :( I'll have to end up putting her down someday, dunno what I'm going to do without her.

He wasn't snapping photos as the rabbit was dying...he took pics of him BEFORE, and AFTER. Given the photographic diary of Oolong's daily existence, I think it was fitting, and he did it in a very respectful fashion. Next time you think it's weird taking a few photographs of his recently deceased pet for the world's rememberance, think about the time you unceremoniously dumped your pet in a shoebox in the garden. This guy even went so far as to bury him with some of his favorite foods!
As for all you morons who feel the need to make callous, morbid, puerile comments or pick on Oolong's owner, note: He has been doing this for a long, LONG time, and if you'd kept up with the photos, you'd have seen the obscene amount of care and love he's given that rabbit. He's even paid for Oolong to undergo surgery a few times, which is something I doubt most of you would do for your pets.
Some of us are actually pretty sad that Oolong is dead, so for those of you who just want to poke fun at someone else's greif: screw off.
I'm not going to argue any points other than I'd say that entire last day of photos are images of the rabbit as it starts to die. None of the images of its last day show it in good health. Which means they are all images of the animal as it is dying.Quote:
