Just want to know what you all think of this one, and which version is the best.
There's an Xbox demo. It was pretty boring from what I briefly played.
Dude...you know better than that :p
In a nutshell, it's not bad. Seriously. Here's a basic breakdown.
The game features two game modes, Exhibition and Movie Mode respectively. The Movie mode is the true catch of the two, giving you the chance to play through various "chapters" in the Rocky timeline. So basically, you're playing through Rocky I to Rocky V, going against actual characters including Clubber Lang, Ivan DRago, and Tommy Gunn who were featured in the films, and several fictional characters made up just for the game.
I like this mode the most...it has a nice engine, and presentation altogether. Before each round, you can work on training Rocky - building up various attributes like his stamina, movement, etc. This is an essential element to improving Rocky's overall performance. Each training session consists of specific button commands which correspond to the actual regiment (i.e. punch mits, skipping, speed bag) which boxers undergo. Mickey's in there too, btw! (Right hook...c'mon, he's killing ya out there!) If you're too lazy to manually train him, you can set it to Autotrain. This will work for the first few characters, but eventually you'll need to do your own grunt work (since its the only way to earn an extensive number of points to get Rocky up to par).
Graphically, it's just above average. Rocky looks pretty authentic, but Apollo Creed seems a little scary. Nothing quite like Carl Weathers...bleh. Minor nitpickiness, especially if you're a purist that's looking for total perfection. I love the way the boxing arenas have been modeled, gives a nice surreal experience. The crowds are animated (limited movement...mainly because it's simply a looped FMV in place). The music? Of course, the classic Rocky theme is in there...I haven't heard "Eye of the Tiger" yet though
The boxing system consist of various buttons combos (Tekken players should feel right at home). There's a Sparring (Training) Mode which allows you to practice and learn the moves of the selected boxer. I don't really have any problems with the control, Rage has done a solid job withi the collision and playbility to make the game very enjoyable. There's a few extras thrown in, such as a Gallery Mode so that you can unlock FMV clips from the Movie Mode. So far, I am quite impressed (I am sure I'll have something to nitpick with it soon. I have the feeling the game won't be that difficult to complete. It seems to be scalable. A difficulty setting would've been a great feature).
If you have a PS2 or Xbox (it's also available for the Game Boy Advance), I'd definitely recommend you checking it out...Rocky fans will enjoy it.
What version are you playing? Although, judging from the average visuals, I doubt it makes much of a difference.
I don't think any of the Survivor tracks from III or IV are included.
I checked several sites and so far the X-Box version is the best graphically followed by the Gamecube version which isn't by that much. PS2 is last so I suppose it depends on which controller you like using the most and if the graphics matter that much.
Neo's right...it's not really THAT action-packed (what virtual boxing game really is?) :p Though I still enjoy it.
and I am playing the Xbox version man. You know how we do...
OK. I was just wondering if there were any Substance-ial multiplatform issues.

Thats old school...
JMET: Damn straight.
Burg: I'd recommend checking reviews, I can't open the contest copies, but I doubt it (oh, and thanks Will, forgot that it was on the Cube too)
Burg, I have a friend who has both the Gamecube and PS2 versions and he says the Cube version is MUCH better. But from what I've seen from reviews, the X-Box version is supposedly even better. From what I've read/opinions I've gotten I rank 'em:
1. Gamecube (2nd best review scores, but my friend loves this ver)
2. X-Box (best reviews, my friend hasn't played)
3. PS2 (worst reviews, friend didn't like this ver)
Hope that helps :)
