For the record, Harmony of Dissonance did very well in the U.S. and it's an amazing game. It's not without its problems (i.e., that it's too easy, the lo-fi music), but if you think it's a bad game, I feel deeply sorry for you.

Oh, and as far as the PS2..er, next-gen Castlevania goes, it'll likely be announced on Thursday, but not shown. Cheers.
Yes, but can you honestly say that this is a significantly different gaming experience than SOTN? The whole point of being a gamer is to have NEW gaming experiences, not the same old ones repackaged in different shrinkwrap.Quote:

This just reeks of Konami stripmining their audience, and judging by the reaction on this board, they don't like it.

I agree that it's not a significantly different experience, but SOTN is one of the finest games ever made, and transferring that experience into a new version for a portable system should not be maligned. It's not quite as good as SOTN, but then again, Metroid Fusion isn't quite as good as Super Metriod. What's better? A new chapter in an established series that's NEW and 95% as good or an identical port of the original? Personally, I'm much happier having Harmony of Dissonance over a simple port of SOTN.
Some people just cannot be pleased, apparently.
It's not as though every aspect of HoD was a failure, but the castle design, enemies and enemy patterns, magic system, bosses, and general gameplay structure seemed so monotonous and lacklustre, that the game couldn't maintain my interest. The music being lo-fi wasn't as bad as them not even trying to craft something interesting to listen to with the limited space for music tracks. If Konami is going to make another exploration-based Castlevania game, my main hope is that they try to inject some engaging gameplay, and some more creative castle designs this time. If they can't do that, then I hope they look back to the level-based roots of the series for inspiration.Quote:

Personally, I found HoD's castle design to be leagues better than Circle of the Moon's.. but then again, CoTM was by KCEK, and therefore, a triumph for that team...
What strikes me is that they could just make any old game with a guy slinging a whip, slap the name "Castlevania" on it, and you guys would be all over it.Quote:

If HoD, with its huge balance problems, isn't a bad game, what is?
It was, but I was dissapointed because I was hoping HoD would have been more of an improvement over CotM, considering it was being made by KCET and not KCEK.Quote:
