looking at my game shelf last night thinking "damn i have a shit-ton more ps2 games than xbox or cube!" not that i expect that other people's ratio is any different, but i was just kind of curious, so:
what is the percentage breakdown of games you own by system?

I'll be frank - the Xbox's library bores the hell out of me. It's mostly only good for multiplatform stuff and multiplayer games. The PS2 has the best niche library, which means it has the most games that interest me. The GC is mostly there for the Nintendo stuff, and some multiplayer games.

PS2 - 23%

I would have to say I like my Cube the best though.
The PS2 has the most games, and lots of them are more obscure titles and such that I tend to buy I guess. Plus there are lots of really great PS2 games that are cheap!
My Xbox selection will be increasing pretty soon, there are lots of games coming out that I want really bad. Buts thats true for all the systems.

Suikoden 3, Wild Arms 3, Shinobi (probably wait till it comes down in price to 20 like Maximo or if Sega initiates it into Greatest hits. It's worth 30 to me, not 70 CND), and Red Faction 2.
I find Shinobi to be a fun time to play, but outside of a little hack and slash there's not alot of substance as I find the story down right laughable and the cutscenes, while technically done well, the story and art direction lack, and are very typical. I'm also interested in Two Towers.
I also want to buy Pikmin and Super Monkey Ball 2, too many games too little time!!!!

I didn't realize I had so many Ps2 games....or Xbox for that matter. I expected the list to break down similar to this though.
I've had my PS2 since launch and I only have about 5 games..I've sold about 10 of them because of re-releases and some of them weren't that great.
I only have two games for my Gamecube as well..Mario Sunshine and Super Smash Brothers : Melee
Anyone have any suggestions for some REALLy good gamecube games that are out now?

All though lately I've been getting into Xbox and it's almost ready to breakout with some quality stuff. Unfortunatly, I have no intentions of buying anything until I put a dent into what I already own.

There are at least 15 Xbox games coming that I will definitely buy, as well at least 10 PS2 games. GC only has 3 games that interest me (Zelda, Viewtiful Joe, Mega Man). so I don't really see that eight percent increasing in 2003.
Who knows? There are always a few titles not on my list that I buy on impulse or right after release and end up enjoying immensely (Animal Crossing comes to mind). I sincerely hope that's true with the GC this year because that share percentage really sucks.

when it comes to multiplayer games i get them on cube looks just as good and i like the controller better doesnt matter to me that they dont have 5.1 dts as i dont have a receiver so it would be a wasted feature here and again i prefer the controller alot more so thats more important to me
I also havent bought naything for my PS2 since KIngdom Hearts game out, there are some decent titles out right now but nothing i would spend 50 bucks on (ie gungrave, shinobi, rygar) so im waiting for those to drop, my next big game on that is Devil May Cry 2, maybe Xenosaga and i dont see much else
when this generation first started coming out i figured the PS2 would be my main dish for this generation and the GC and Xbox being the side dishes but the cube really has taken the main dish place, with the better versions for me of multiplatform games and great exclusives from capcom and nintendo

A year ago I would have thought my Xbox's ratio would have been the one that increased a year later, but it turned out to be the cube :confused:
I cleared out some garbage PS2 titles in the EB trade 4 games, but it seemed like I picked up more PS2 titles this last year (than any other system), but it turns out I must have picked up alot more cube games at bargin prices than I expected, since there were few marquee titles.
Gamecube (15 games): 21%

PS2 (35 games): 50%
However, it should be noted that I own a few "Craptacular" games on the XBox- just because. I like all of my Gamecube games, though.

Kinda surprised I have that many PS2 games, although my GCN is mainly used for WWE WrestleMania XIX and the GB Player, it still gets more use than the PS2. The Xbox is right in the middle, as PGR is the only game I play constantly on it. The hard drive gets a lot of use though, as I usually listen to songs when not playing that game on the Xbox.

I don't see why not. I get my multiplat games on the cube, mostly because I STILL can't get myself to like the x-box controller, and mostly because i like to bring the cube around, and mostly because they are really nice on the cube. And the discs are so cute. My fighters are all ps2, [EXCEPT Soul Calibur 2 which I needed to get with link. Heihachi is an old pansy, and Spawn is kinda lame too, both in the comics and as a playable character] as are pretty much all my sports sims, space shooters, etc. (though really most of my shooters are ps1/older games.) I don't own more ps2 games because, well, so many of them are crap. Or short. And it looks fairly assy now, for the most part. Don't get me wrong, I've rented and beaten many many many ps2 games.Quote:

Most multiplatform titles I'd rather buy the PS2 version for online play (Madden, Tiger, LOTR, etc) or on the Gamecube so I can use my Wavebirds. Outside of Orta and Crimson Skies, the Xbox has very few exclusives that interest me, but Fuzion Frenzy has a couple of fun mini-games when you've got a bunch of people drinking. I mostly just use the Xbox as a media/emulation PC.
The majority of games in my collection are exclusive to the PS2 or Gamecube.

I got rid of a shitload of games in the past months due to financial situation. Honestly though, nothing out or coming out for a while really has me interested. The only upcoming games of interest are: MGS 3 ps2, GT4 ps2 and MGS: Twin Snakes gcn.

As far as multiplatform goes, I grab XBox versions if they have Live play, GC if there's nothing missing from it that the XBox version has, and PS2...well, hell, I won't buy a PS2 version if I don't have to. So most of my PS2 games are original titles: Shinobi, Suikoden 3, Kingdom Hearts, FFX, FFX-2, Contra...
Although I sold a lot of games in the past year, as well, so the percentages have fluctuated a bit.
Smart, that's how I shop as well, when it comes to Multiplat games, the Xbox wins hands down. Most of the time, reviewers try bashing on the XBX's controls, but SSX3 and PoP was perfect precision controls if you ask me.
I'm still waiting for the "OMG you have 40 GC games retart" crew to tear apart my collection.

At work today we printed out a list of all the games coming out in the next few months to see what we, personally, want to reserve (omgABCs!). Tons for Xbox (Fable, Steel Battalion: LOC, Sudeki, Ninja Gaiden, Rallisport Challenge 2, all the multi-platform releases). Some for PS2 (definite yes on GT4, big maybes on Drakengard and FFXI). Nothing for GC. Not Custom Robo. Not Mega Man. Not anything. The most interesting thing coming for GC? Pokemon Colosseum (and I can't believe I just said that. Wrote that.).
Anyways, I try to like the GC. I really do. I nearly bought Lost Kingdoms 2 b/c it's so cheap. But I've already got Culdcept. We play Double Dash and that's about it on the poor thing. Anyways, to each his own. I look on my DC library today and recall over-stating its greatness many times over. Some of those purchases were a real stretch.

Since then, it's stayed pretty much constant. I've about double the amount of games for each system since I posted this last year.
