Okay, like he said, new content is up. The new mech's are all right (corvus is a bit better IMO) and the new maps are pretty nice as well. Stone Cold is just all righ, and suffers a bit from "River City Syndrome", in that, as soon as all the ice pillars and what not are blown up, it's sort-of wide open, with power-ups spawning in the middle for those who want to brave it and get them. It's smaller though, so, sniping isn't as much as a viable tactic; small mechs can close the distance pretty quick and avoid the long-range tracking fire. Also, unlike the majority of River City, jump jets are pretty useful. Hell's Kitchen though, is genius. I can't really explain it all, but the design is just great. It allows for just about every viable strategy, and just about any mech can excel given you're a competent player. Plus, they have power-ups spawning on a small island in the middle of lava (covered with a very explosive structure) so it's great fun seeing who wants to risk jumping out there to get them.
Also, with people playing the new mechs so much, Ballistic upgrades are more prominent, balancing things out a bit. At least for now (I think people will get tired of the new mechs until CTF comes out).
Wish I could see the new maps and mechs and PLAY ONLINE! For some reason every time I try and DL the new content I get the Damaged/Scratched Disc screen. Which means I can no longer play online at all (since the patch is required). I called Microsoft the other day and they basicly said I was SOL untill it becomes a widespread problem and they can figure it out. FUCK YOU M$!!!!!!
Dude, that sucks. -and it's lame of them too. Wish I could help, but mine went without a hitch.
Xeno: Is MA the only game giving you fits? If so, pick up a memory card (if you don't have one yet). Copy your live account and Mech Assault saves to the memory card. Delete the live settings and MA saves off the hard drive. Copy your stuff from the memory card back to the HD. Try and download the patch again.
If that doesn't work, try to clear MA out of the load cache. Boot up 3 other games besides MA, and try one more time.
One last thing (actually, check this first): if you have any files for the new content on your HD, wipe it, and try running the download again.
The memory card thing didn't work. The error only comes up when I try and DL the new content, I can play the one player game all I want. Guess I'm fucked untill M$ fixes something.
Oh well. I tried. That sounded like some of the problems I've seen with Morrowind and the OXBM discs. Out of curiousity, can you play online with the Moto GP demo without any problems?
Boil your disk in water for like 15 seconds, take it out, dry it off, let it cool down, now try.
Yes, you've probably heard of that when you get a faulty disk, but I tried it and it got my PDO demo disk to work like a charm, so I now swear by this method.
Yes I can get the Moto GP demo to work and I play CvS2 every day online. The disc isn't damaged at all (it's still flawless) so boiling shouldn't do much. I even borrowed my bro's copy of NBA2K3 to try and DL the content for it and it worked perfectly. I think it's just a defect on the disc. I've seen the same complaint by others on other boards so it's not just me.
I may try renting a copy and DLing the content with it then just playing my copy, we'll see.
