Yeah, I saw it once in the theater. I think it was a special showing. I don't know the details, but I did go to see it when I was very young. I was too young to catch any of those controversial references. I don't know if I would like the movie now, or find it inoffensive, but back when I was little it just seemed very different. It wasn't like anything I've seen before.Quote:

I had a friend who had a copy of a copy from a VHS tape the bought in Japan, but thats about the closest I've come to seeing it, besides the one time I watched it in the theaters in the 70's.
I had a record of the music I would play all the time.
I'm not really a fan of Disney, never was. This movie just sticks out in my head for some reason.
Superstition, was the controversy justified in your opinion? Should it have been ban?
BTW, when I DID see it, it was with a black family who lived a few blocks from my house. My brothers and I were friend with their 2 kids, but I was the only one in my family who went, (I forgot why). They seemed VERY enthusiastic about seeing the film. I remember it was a very big deal in my area, not because of the controversy but because, (I believe), they knew it was (probably?) the last time their children were going to get a chance to see it. I don't know if the film I saw was edited at all.
