This might be the biggest crock I've seen. Amazon.com is selling the freebie Zelda bonus disc for $69.99, but there's a "special offer" of getting it free when you preorder Wind Waker.
In addition to that joke, make sure to scroll down and read the "features." My favorite is the one about how the game focuses on problem solving rather than violence. If that's now a "feature," I need a new hobby.

I saw an online savings site yesterday listing this preorder at amazon.com as a "deal" when just about all video game shops offer it and won't be charging $70 for OoT separately. Just ridiculous.

Amazon often has good deals on older products. They consistently suck when it comes to preorders.
If you're concerned both with getting a title ASAP and getting it for the lowest price, as I am, do what I do:
1. Preorder and purchase the game from local EB or Babbages.
2. If the game is on sale in a department store, purchase that one too.
3. Return the second game to EB or Babbages under that store's receipt.
In closing, I don't need price comparison data to see that a disc I can get for free with a $50 purchase is not worth $70. You have no argument.

I'm pretty sure the reason this has a price is to prevent people from canceling their pre-order after they receive the free disc. Amazon lets you cancel pre-orders up until the minute they are sent to ship. This way, if you cancel your Zelda pre-order they will probably charge you $70 for the "free" disc. Is this legal? Apparently not. I don't know that Nintendo will do anything about it though considering they probably won't sell any discs at all by themselves.

Crazy, I say go to a local store pre-order and get the FREE disc in feb and the real game in march, then sell the game later. thus makeing money. all for 49.99, plus whatever you make for selling zelda.
I'm sure there would be big problems with people canceling their orders after the bonus disc shipped if there were no penalties, but I still don't like how Amazon is handling this. Gamestop.com has it right by just not allowing anyone to cancel an order after the bonus disc has been shipped. I don't see why they don't just do what gamestop.com did.

Looks to me like Amazon is just making it clear to gamers that the bonus disc is worth $70, so by paying $50 for Wind Waker you are getting $120 worth of software.
By that logic, MS should be selling Jet Set Radio Future and Sega GT 2002 for $100 since they come packed-in with the Xbox.
The picture of the box at the Amazon link calls it a "two game bonus disc." That is proof and settles once and for all that it is a bonus disc, not a disc unto itself.

Hyperbole aside, this board is extremely on the ball when it comes to industry info. While there are at least a few "insiders" around, that isn't relevant - Amazon selling retail copies of OoT wouldn't be insider info. It would be preceded by a press release, or some other public information.
In the absence of that information, my buddy Occam tells me that, when all other things are equal, the simplest explanation is the truth. I've made no argument (again that's the best part). All I've said (and I'll say it again for the understanding-impaired) is that you do not know that Amazon made that price up. You also don't know if Nintendo knows they are listed that way. Nothing more. You are assuming Amazon did it because you see the link and the price. You assume that Nintendo would not allow that so Amazon must be wrong. You weren't on the personalized mailing list to receive the memo that went between Nintendo and Amazon when the retail price and listing detailed were discussed (although I'm not sure how they forgot to send a copy to this list - must have been an email glitch).

I hope to get a response that actually answers my question. I realize that may or may not happen. While agree your scenario is possible, I can't imagine Amazon getting to where they are today by selling Not For Resale software. So I believe there is another answer for it.
((I really believe that Nintendo sent them their latest data update - in XML, comma delimited, Oracle export, etc - that included an entry for this item, which included the description and suggested retail price. Amazon just loads that data into the website through some automoated process and voila - a debate is born).

As of last night, the overall sales ranking for Zelda the Wind Waker was #1 at Amazon. The ranking for the bonus disc is #2. That's an awful lot of people paying the $70 for the bonus disc.
