his name is "arikado" according to konami. that's superficially similar to "alucard" but we'll see.
it certainly doesn't look much like SOTN's edition of alucard but as mentioned he would definitely be available in every era (though i can't remember what became of him at the end of SOTN -- i know he slept between III and SOTN, but not what happened at the end of that game.)
the plot of HOD was so throwaway that i'm hoping for a lot more tie-ins with castlevania and something more interesting in general.
