The weapons are fantastic, the enemies are sheer idiots. No multiplayer at all seems very odd in this day and age.

ive heard the opening cinema alone is 10 minutes at 200Meg. isnt the full install like 1.5Gig?

Cant say I am surprised. The Legend team is wholly unspectacular and The Wheel of Time was oft-delayed shite. The original Unreal was groundbreaking when it came out in... 1998 I think, but this is no surprise. Boo-urns!
The complaint about the quick save/load is the same complaint I have with NOLF2. What the fuck are these developers thinking? Why are we regressing in this matter? Max Payne's quick load had exactly ZERO waiting, but NOLF2 has a good 30-60 seconds and apparently Unreal 2 does too. What crap.

There isn't an opening cinema. The full install is 2.2 Gigs (just like UT2k3), although it requires more then that for the actual installing (I had 2.5 Gigs free and it said there wasn't enough room at 99%).Quote:

And yes, Quicksave is anything but. The only thing remotely quick about it is that you only have to hit a single button instead of hitting Esc to go to the menu.

The first Unreal was good fun, but mainly because the graphics were so freakishly spectacular. I got a super-ultra-high-end system right as Unreal was released (P2 400, SLI Voodoo 2 8mbs, 128MB RAM), and I could hardly keep from slavering over the textures and models and all that.Quote:

Beyond the graphics, though, the game got pretty repetitive. Only one of the enemies had solid AI, many of the guns were fairly terrible, the levels all seemed to blur into each other, the game took forever to beat (not in a good way), only a few levels were distinctly memorable, and it had one of the worst combinations of final boss and end sequence of anything I've ever played. It was impressively atmospheric, but really the thing was all show, no go. Still have fond memories of those graphics, though, man.
Besides the utter lack of inspiration, the worst thing about Unreal 2 is the "running" speed. It's pathetic. I seriously doubt a slower FPS will come out in the next 5 years. This is the final culmination of the "slowing down" trend that's affected the genre since Doom gave way to Quake. I mean, it must be. It simply couldn't get slower.
For a laugh, try holding down the "walk" button. What were they thinking?
