I've been looking forward to this show since it was first announced. It's weird seeing Ed O'Neill as anything but Al Bundy, but he's doing a fantastic job so far. I'm loving how the show has been modernized. I wish they would have kept the dates at the beginning of the show, but that's a minor little point.
As someone who used to love watching the 1967-1970 run of Dragnet with Jack Webb and Harry Morgan (they never seem to show reruns of the first Dragnet run), I must say I'm mightily impressed. I now have another show on my "must watch" list every week. :)
Little trivia bit for you all... ten years ago Ed O'Neill starred in a movie called "Dutch", where his character was picking up his wife/gf's son up from prep school and driving him home. The guy who played the kid in that film plays Det. Frank Smith (Friday's partner) in the new Dragnet.
That is some awesome trivia right there. TVTome.com has an interesting article on the new show, saying the producers aren't intending on making it like the original runs, and that they're just using the Dragnet name for attention. Kinda takes some of the fun out of the show.
this is definitely going to be another sunday night "must watch" show for me. simpsons, law & order: ci and andy richter are the others that i gotta watch on a weekly sunday basis. but yea... new Dragnet is really good.

I watched the last half of it after a disapointing first half of Kingpin. I wish I watched Dragnet from the start, I really liked what I saw. I love cops on the edge, Dick Wolf does great stuff. I love the Law and Order shows. "The Shield" is still the best Drama on TV though.
Clash, I agree with you about the Shield. Definitely the best drama series in the past five years.
