You really won't find much about making logos in Photoshop, as logos are primarily done in vector programs such as Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand, and Corel Draw.
If you're going to use Photoshop for logo creation, your best bet is to get two books if you're new to working with photoshop. One book if you don't need beginner's help. For creating logos, as long as you know the program you're working with, you can achieve some decent results. All it takes is some logo design sense.

If you need help on how to use photoshop, I suggest this book.

you might want to check out those sites for the hell of it. they have some cool tutorials on how to do some nifty things you could use in logos.
or you could ask me :) i am very proficient in photoshop.
thanks for the links and such guys. as it turns out i actually had to buy "How to Design Logos, Symbols & Icons" for my Corporate ID class. VERY good book. im not new to PS and only asked this because theres a job offer that stated logo creation and knowledge of PS required so i assumed they were doing it some half-assed way but i called them and they are also using Illustrator which i really need to brush up on. thanks again fellas and ill keep you in mind Rhydant.
If you ever manage to get Illustrator, its a LOT like Photoshop. It uses a layers palette and all the shortcut keys are the same.
If you just fool with the vector tools in Photoshop, you'll go a long ways to getting good with Illustrator. Especially using the basic pen tool. Both programs' vector tools are exactly the same, Photoshop just has a more limited vector tool set.
What a coincidence, I too have to make a logo in the not to distant future, thanks for the link that logo book, I'll go see if I can buy it locally rather than over the internet. Are there any other websites out there that just have design tips for creating logos, not just for photoshop, but I mean aesthetic design tips.
www.somethingleet.com is a great place to hang out and talk with logo designers. The Photoshop tutorial board has about 9e82795372395niner tutorials, check it out.
