Taishou Mononoke Ikunroku

How many of you guys are interested in this game? I heard about it a little while ago from Magic Box, and the more I see it, the more I want it. Here's a peek:

Gust, creator of the popular Atelier Marie series, announced a new PlayStation 2 simulation RPG called Taisho Mononoke Ibunroku. The story takes place in the era of Taisho in Japan, in which there are a large number of demons wandering at night.

There are 5 playable characters, each with different goals, stories and personalities.

The game is turn based, and divided into Adventure Part and Hyakki-Yagyou Part (RPG part), each turn is 15 days. In the adventure part you can collection information, purchase items and explore various places, special events also occur in specific days. In the RPG part, you will enter the battle fields, defeat all the "mononokes" (demons) and obtain the jade from the demons.

You can also capture the mononoke demons and train them to battle for you. There are a total of 37 kinds of mononokes, each with its own special skills, elemental attribute. You can equip the mononokes with different kinds of armors and accessories. The mononokes can evolve to various forms and classes.

Shame for a game with this much promise to get shafted in the U.S.

You're being a bit premature with the shafting bit. Odds are low, yes, but you never know.

Pretty nice-looking art stlye. I like the backgrounds...

The animation is pretty shoddy, though.

After reading your post in the ST1 thread, I was looking for a trailer and probably was about 30 sec away from finding it until you posted here. :sweat:

Hmm, after viewing the trailer, I have as much interest in buying Taisho Mononoke as you do in Venus & Braves. Well, you get this, and I V&B, and then we can swap impressions on the board here. :lol:

Maybe, but that's sorta how the Atelier games were - sorta a low-budget feel. No biggie as long as it plays well. Actually, considering that Gust is a small company, it's amazing they got it looking like it does. 'sides, I have more confidence in Gust making a game like this than Namco making a game like V&B. Just my take ^_^

Rose, you ever played the Atelier series? Wouldn't hurt to try out the DC Marie & Elie for $13 at PlayAsia.

Thanks, but Feb is booked up with about $340 in games, not including the $250 I spent prior to get a J-PS2. Maybe tacking on $13 wouldn't seem like much, but I also have to consider whether I'll have the time to play all of them...

Hresvelgr (I think). Actually, if the entire Atelier series has the same charm that I (barely) saw in Alelier Elie, I wouldn't be so quick to write them off, especially for this type of game.
