I'm not too surprised coming from Acclaim, but most people liked the demo and I expected a little better than a 6.3. Is it really that bad?

The X-Box mag demo was glitchy as hell. It's basically exactly as Gamespot described- A Mario 64 clone. Instead of stars you collect hearts, and not valentine hearts but glowing, semi-realistic looking ones. Oooh... edgy. The combat system has potential but the level 1 demo enemies were really boring to fight.
Glitches in the demo- falling off a cliff, I got stuck for a full minute between a wall and a platform that was curving away from it, in the junction between them. Took a good bit to free myself.
Glitch #2- there's an infinite combo attack you can do if you get the tempo right. Long about hit #350 or so the framerate starts to die pretty hard. I might have crashed it entirely but another enemy came along and knocked me off the guy I had pinned to a wall. It wasn't a hard tempo to get into, either. I had some nice 1-200 hit combos going there.
So yeah, I'd say 6.3. Hell, I'd even round up to 6.5.

This is one of those games I just KNEW would be crapped on from the boring ass demo.
Tenchu 3 and ZOE 2 on the other hand... oh yeah!
Try it out as a rental. Gamespot can be alittle harsh on some gems, alittle rough around the edge, sometimes.
Ugh, this reminded me of something. I was looking at an old Maxim (August, I believe, with Beyoncé on the cover) and saw that they had a Turok Evolution review. They gave it 5 out of 5 stars. Best shooter since Halo, they said.
Considering that these people also claim that Monster was the worst REM album, it's pretty fair to say that they have no taste in music or video games. Stick to comedy and chicks, please.
Take it with a grain of salt, and remember that this ig Gamespot, the same people that gave Steel Battalion a 7.3.
Actually, I think they got the comedy bit right with Turok. Should I rant about how bad it is again...? Nah...Quote:

One thing that really aggrivated me in the demo was the actual movement.
VERY sluggish.
"Go this way, Vexx!"
"Alright, just let me turn around... speed up a bit... there we go..."
Vexx = Worst Character Design Ever.
From what I saw of my friend playing the demo is looked to have ok areas but that fighting looked spastic and bland, and the character is worse than ass pudding.
I'd have to agree with Clash Master here. I wasn't (well, I am still not) thrilled with his character design. (Come to think of it, nor was I thrilled with Crash Bandicoot, but that's another story). When it was shown off at E3 2002, it didn't really motivate me as a game that I'd be looking forward to its release (and Acclaim's been working on this title for a few years now).
Damn, and my boss at IGN gave me this optimistic vibe that it was pretty decent ...maybe it's not too late to request another game to work on for my next guide. ^_^
