It all started pretty much with Archon for the Apple II I think, and I cant list the number of strategy wargame type things on the PC in the 1980s. Like so many other genres, it was created on the PC.

Ah, the creators of Archon and Star Control teamed up to make Unholy War, an overlooked PSX game that was loads of fun in vs. mode. You have a sort of hex-based chessboard overview and then realtime 3D battles, with a sort of rock/paper/scissors approach to balance between units. Lots of fun.
I actually still have Unholy War. I should definitely put some time into it, as its just been sitting there.
Has anyone else played Freedom Force on PC? I just started that and am really enjoying it thus far. It is a tactical RPG with a super hero theme.
Played a few hours into it. I was really surprised with how good it was.Quote:

Too bad I've got the ole voodoo 3500 in the peesee...so if stuff gets to hectic the game goes into bullet time.
When I get around to getting a new video card, this will be one of the first things I play fo'sheazy.
The demo of Unholy War wasn't great but since everyone tells me the full game is better, I plan on buying it eventually.
Freedom Force looks good but I haven't played it yet. I wish Irrational Games' other team would finish up making The Lost and then hopefully make a System Shock 3.
If you play PC games, XCOM is the one to get. Then Jagged Alliance 2 if you're more into real world settings.
Yeah, it's got the Silver Age hyperbolic style down to a pat, but it can get kind of easy if you use your own heroes.Quote:
