Buying only one game this year

Here's the deal - just got GGX2. I already ordered Zelda. Now...I only want to get one more game this year. Well, really I don't, but I'm trying to budget. So if there was one game you could not do without this year, what is it? Exclude RPGs right away - I have too many and could always find those cheap later.

So far I'm thinking GC Ikaruga, as long as someone buys the DC version from me. F-Zero is another inclination, but I'm not sure if it'll even arrive this year. PS2 RPGs excluded, I have no idea what's out. XBox looks just as barren, but only because I don't know what's coming along. That's why the thread was made.

Oh, and feel free just to post what is the one 'must have' game, for the fun of it.

Don't forget that Viewtiful Joe is coming out...

Winning Eleven 6 (PS2)
Sonic Advance 2 (GBA)
Megaman Zero 2 (GBA)

My personal pick would have to be.. hrm.. hard to say.. maybe Golden Sun II for GBA, because I want to see what happens.

Halo 2.

is it going to be a lot like Halo? Because I'd didn't think much of it, one way or another...

Golden Sun 2 and Viewtiful Joe sound interesting.

Doom III. Or Quake IV if it makes it this year.

But if you're talking console wise, I can't help you. Too much good stuff coming, especially in these next few weeks. Although if really, really pressed... KOTOR or SW:Galaxies. Both are guarenteed to at least be long as hell with plenty to do, even if final say on the gameplay is still largely unknown.

Halo 2 for me.

Seriously though unless your using the Chinese calendar, are you really going to be able to control yourself to buy only one more game this year. =p

ZoE 2 and Gradius V also look pretty darn sweet.

I think you need a bigger budget.

I'd say Viewtiful Joe too, since you don't have an Xbox (right?). It probably wouldn't last you long, but damn does it look slick.

F-Zero is supposed to ship before July, FYI.

But if I had to pick one, other than Zelda, it would be StarFox Armada.

If I only bought one game this year (impossible), it would have to be a shooter. I wouln't be able to get enough replay value out of anything else. It'd either be DDP Dai-ou-Jou for PS2, or Raiden Fighters on Xbox. It would be a tough choice.

Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution on PS2.

I'd go with Soul Calibur 2 as well. The only other games I want for xbox coming up are Tork and Fable. There are plenty others I don't need, but I'll probably buy them anyway. :p

Oh, and Halo 2 won't be one of them.:cool:

Well Halo 2 does not come out till like this Christmas correct, and I don't think you can hold that long. I guess if it were me it would be F-Zero, or if it comes out this year Star Fox Armada.

1 game? Ha ha, you'll never make it. :)

Oh well, if you're only going for one game, go all out. Get DDR Max with the best soft pads money can buy and then do the plywood/kitchen flooring mod. I think DDR is the only game that would even stand a chance at holding my interest for a full year.

Take that 52 bucks and buy two or three older games that you never got around to playing.

Hell, even though I don't obviously buy a lot of games, to think of just getting one game for the rest of the year is laughable in itself. Hero will quickly change his mind come E3.

Seriously, though, if your'e limiting yourself to one more game this year maybe you should get a part time job at Babbages or something. I must buy at least 20 new games a year, plus accessories and used games, and I'm probably a "lightweight" on these boards.

Since I own Panzer Dragoon Orta and have Zelda:WW and Ikaruga pre-ordered and paid for, I'd say Halo 2. But there are a lot of other games I'm looking forward to this year-- Soul Calibur 2, F-Zero, Viewtiful Joe, Tenchu 3, and 1080. Starfox Armada and Fable are must-haves for me, but I'm not sure they'll be out before 2004.

No RPGs, eh? Well, I think I still might recomend Breath of Fire V. I've not played it yet, however, it looks as though the replayability is there.

No RPG's, I know if I was forced and only had to choose one game this year it would be Star Ocean III... if it comes out this year like scheduled, but that would be my most wanted game period :)

About 90% of games can be had cheaper if you wait awhile with the exception of some Limited Editions and low print games so just buy what you really want and put off what you don't want as badly.

ps. I'd definitely agree with Werewolf. If I only had enough money for one new game for the entire year I'd just assume spend the money on 2-3 older games I missed out on from last year (or before).

DDR Max 2 all the way. Only fighters when backed with a pool of competition have more replay value, and no one around here plays fighters (and PIU's seemingly never coming out on console :mad: ), so...

i might have to go with dolemite and just say Tenchu 3.

I agree, but it never hurts to plan for what you have, and then be plesantly surprised if you find yourself with extra money later on.

Metal Slug 3 PS2, Dodonpachi PS2, or Raiden Fighters Xbox...if they come to the US, I don't feel like buying a Japanese system for a handful of titles or modding a US one. *-neo

Definitely Halo 2, if they deliver on everything they promise like massively multiplayer online campaigns.

Soul Calibur 2

Nintendo has stated, that F-Zero(GC) will see simultanious release with the arcade game. You can use your Gamecube memory card at the arcade and supposedly it will open up new features.

Panzer Dragoon Orta, if picking from games that've already been released.

Otherwise, Halo 2. :)
