Yes, it will do fine for that.
I preordered FFTA but haven't been able to pick it up yet. I have to call them in the morning and ask them to hold it till Saturday. I'm way too bust till then. Plus, my car died. :\
Gonna be hitting up Best Buy today for it. $26.99 Circuit City price match + double Reward Zone points = Happy Rags! :D
It's good, it has a very similar style to the original. Though I don't think it's anywhere near as good as FFT. One of the best GBA soundtracks ever I think.Quote:

Since I picked it up last night, I've put about six hours into it.
Woo!
the battles have to be uphill, due to the lack of rotating maps. starting you at the top of a hill won't work, as it's too much of an advantage for your archers. i suppose the maps can also be flat, but that's not too exciting.
Indeed.
More dramatic inching up a incline to defeat your foes too.
About 8 hours in.
Feels really good so far. And for the record I totally understand why there is no "optimum equip" like other rpgs.
In ffta you get your abilities from the items/weapons you equip, so just grabbing the sword with the highest atk power might not be the best solution. You'll need to always be checking what abilities you get from each item before you equip it. So yea, not a big problem there.
I also don't understand how people can say there aren't any random battles:
After you get in a few hours, there are always other clans wandering around the map that you can go engage for extra exp/gil...just like a random battle!?
I thought there was no random battles either, but there is after just a couple hours. I've hardly advanced the story at all, I'm addicted to getting better jobs. Had two Ninja's because I wanted the double sword ability but I cant find a item that lets me learn it! Damnit! I've got a Dragoon, Red Mage, a kick ass black magic moogle that is now a gunner. A sweet White mage that know Cura, Life, Esuna and now is learning black magic. Also working on a Summoner. I just want that damn double sword ability!!!!!!Quote:

I wish they'd done a bit more work on the menus (not being able to see an items stats easily while equipping is annoying, and not having an equip option in the shop sucks). Both of those things would be minor, but the whole skill system is based around your equipment. It also sucks that there's no filters at all for equipment. It is sorted by class, but scrolling through a long ass list of items is no good. I also find myself going forward and back through menus quite a bit, and they aren't instant, so it takes up time.
But those are minor gripes. The game itself is great fun. For once, I genuinely wish I knew more people who owned gbas and played it, linking up looks like it'd be really cool.
