Animal Crossing

Just got this game a month ago and haven't missed a day of play yet. Now that I've gotten my feet wet I've got a question of two-

Of all the people who were playing Animal Crossing over the holidays, how many of you have stuck with it?

How many kinds of fruit are there? I've got apples, oranges, peaches, cherries, coconuts, and indigenous pears in my town but I'm not sure if there's any others and the FAQs aren't helping.

How does a few minutes of doing nothing major turn into 2 hours?

I have NOT stuck with it. I have no time. I'll be setting my clock back to January 23rd come Spring Break, though...

I've loved this game off-and-on since I first got it in September. This topic COULD have gone in the official thread for the game, ya know?

My mom plays it nightly. Sunday can't go by without a mention of the magical Turnip lady and her weekly visit to United.

It's quite fascinating, I assure you.

I was addicted to it too at first, but haven't played much in the past 2 or 3 months save for holidays. I even have a few packs of AC cards that I bought that I haven't even scanned in yet...I have a Samus suit design on one of them too...

There's an official thread? I thought the trading thread was just for trading, unless there's another one I missed...

My wife plays it almost daily. She's found almost all the fossils and has already completely paid off her debt to Nook. She just loves to fish and do favors I guess. :)

I played it constantly (daily a couple hours a day) for quite a while, now I'm sporadic. I realize that the NES games were a huge hook for me. Without new games, I'm sorta in drift mode.

I'm lookin forward to the sequal though.

I play a few times a week. My boyfriend plays like, everyday. =X He's totally addicted, but he finally got all the Snowmen furniture!!!!!

Replace "almost daily" with "every single day since Dec. 25th", and "almost all the fossils" with "all the fossils", then I will say "mine too". She also plays OoT a hell of a lot more than I do.

When, I first got I has playing it everyday. I, play ever now and then. I playing .hack right now just got it. I'm so waiting for xenosaga and zoe2. I thought there was a ac online coming out.

Yeah, .hack has that kind of absorbing, addicting, stat-building kinda thing to it. I'm sure you'll agree when you finish your playing session...

According to the box and manual, AC isn't progressive scan-compatible. That's all I can offer since I don't have an HDTV.

My addiction only lasted a couple of months. last time i played was christmas. if there is only 1 game nintendo takes online, it better be this one.

You can bring up the pro-scan option by holding B while booting up. I've done it by accident.

Three fossils to go and I've got the complete set. Doing ok on fishing, can't find a bagworm to save my life, and I'm up to a whopping 3 paintings. Woo, and stuff.

Yesterday I had an afternoon off, I ran around town and chopped down every tree that was touching another tree diagonally. Next up, planting apples and peaches until the tree balance is right again.

Haven't gotten bored yet. :)

My wife has been playing this game constantly since it first came out. Both of us have paid off our homes to Tom Nook and have almost filled the museum. Just to make things more interesting, I bought a 251 memory card today and started another town. Now my wife is travelling there to fish, buy new stuff, and talk to the residents. Some of the animals have even moved between the two towns. It really opens a new dimension to the game.

Yeah I stopped playing when I broke up with my girlfriend... there was something lacking when I could no longer travel between towns... it's been two months now sine I played..

I just started it up aain and all the animals I liked had moved, my house was filled with roaches, and there were weeds everywere,but I still have mad bank and cool furniture!

I've been playing it off and on again for a week now. I'm loving all these NES games. Wario's Woods is simply too cool.

I don't have Wario's Woods... sad times...

I caught the damn Bagworm at last! WooHoo! :)

Some villagers were staring at a tree, I shook it, and out it popped. So far so good on all the rare seasonal critters, catching ths Stringfish was no problem at all.

Now that it's springtime in the game, you can go to the waterfall from 4-9pm or 4-9am and catch the Large Char, which is worth 10,000 bells. It's not that hard to find, and I've made TONS of money by fishing for it.

I think I have 70,000 bells left to pay on my house, then that's it. I'm done. I'm thinking of axing the game from my pile when I clear my debt, even though it's nowhere close to being "finished." I'm also considering of making a second house in my town just to store all the surplus household crap I've accumulated.

Also, I completely agree about having another person's town to visit. The game would only be half as fun otherwise. You get double Nook's store items, double monthly raffle prizes, double the special character appearances, and a place to sell your town's "default" fruit for 500 bells each.

My default fruit is Pear, but I think at this point it's almost an endangered species. I've got so many Orange, Peach, Cherry, and Apple trees it's not even funny with a goodly crop of Coconuts growing on the south shore.

Oddly, I tend not to go visiting too much. My roommate has a town but I like to keep my population stable. She doesn't tend to her town as often as I do mine so her creatures tend to move out, which means that instead of just swapping characters I'm replacing hers and getting new ones. Fun at first but then I lost a few favorites (Stinky the wrestling cat is funny as hell) and it lost its luster. Plus I do less than an hour a day, so I don't really have much time to go travelling anyway.
