Video games blamed for yet another death

However, Medina County Prosecutor Dean Holman said the inspiration for the murder didn’t matter and that the game’s no defense, stating it’s, “more ridiculous than the Twinkie defense.”

For reference, the “Twinkie defense” was suggested in another case by lawyers in which a gunman who killed San Francisco Mayor George Moscone had supposedly become mentally unbalanced due to junk food. The link above has more on the story.

I think I may be on to something here: If we simply don't let idiots play videogames, this sort of thing won't happen, right? All we need to do is section off the idiots from the rest of mankind and it would solve a lot of other problems as well. We should reinstitute Darwinism into our culture and have coming-of-age trials testing things like common sense.

Pet peeve- You can not, repeat not!, earn points just by killing people and stealing cars. Go ahead, check out your points before a carjacking or random killing and after. No change at all? Amazing...

It's like the phrase from the Dragon's Lair thread (quoting Nick's review) about "interactive game". As opposed to the other kind that plays itself, I'm guessing? It just annoys me every time I hear it.

I'm more pissed off by people acting like the stars in the GTA games are good things. You're not SUPPOSED to get them unless the mission requires it. Folks make it seem like it's the Mario 64 system of getting stars when they talk about it. Seeing this kind of ignorance is exactly why I wish I would have been able to participate in Nightline's GTA III show back in July.

Actually, at the very least your "people wasted" number goes up, so they're kinda right.
