For all of those that thought Futurama was dead, good news...
It's not, there'll be a new episode next Sunday at 7PM EST.
I'm glad because it seems Cartoon Network has already cycled through their stock of episodes, and i need something to fill the void left by the Simpsons sucking.

There are more than a handful of episodes that Fox never aired. IIRC there were 4 seasons aired and I think another half a season (like 8) that were done before Fox cut off the show. Original: Fox is airing the new episode? I'll be sure to check it out.
A fantastic show that was killed because of shit management. I've been downloading episodes in the past few weeks. I forgot how damn funny Futurama is. Even the debute episode is hysterical. The DVD's should kick ass.
This is a god thing... after watching the show on AS I've fallen in love with it again and I want more... mroe I tell you...
Futurama was a cool ass show. Even if the 'new' episodes are ones that FOX didn't show, they'll still be funny.

Well that sucks, I'll still be watching the new episode on Sunday, who knows, maybe with the influx of new fans from Adult Swim Fox'll 'Un'can it. Anyone with a Nielsen box must watch this Sunday or I'll attach a brainslug to your head.
Oh and appearantly I'm wrong about Adult Swim cycling through, they just ran the wrong promos.

I heard that there was a season and a half of Futurama episodes done before the plug was officially pulled on it by Fox.
Fox seemed to axe Family Guy, Titus and Futurama all in the same year. Pretty crappy if you ask me, seeing as those were three of the best shows to hit Fox in years.
Mmmmm. DVD. I'll be picking up Futurama DVD 1 and Simpsons DVD Season 2 at the same time, and Family Guy season 1 in April.

Futurama is not canned, last year because of the XFL a handful of episodes where not aired, and no now for is airing them as "new" episodes, and at the moment the futurama teams has not gotten a order to produce more episodes, who know maybe CN will pick up the show.

They have to be one of the dumbest networks.
They expect some shows to just take off right away. Or they give it a shitty timeslot, aka Futurama and Titus. They relegated Titus to Friday night when it was the second highest rates show on Wednesdays for primetime. Of course nobody watches shows Friday and it was canned.
Futurama should've gotten the timeslot at 9 after malcolm in the middle when they ended the X-Files. That is bullshit they just offed it.
Imagine this lineup:
King of the Hill - 7:30 (it's typical time)
The Simpsons - 8:00
Malcom in the Middle - 8:30
Futurama - 9:00
Andy Rictor - 9:30
That is one awesome night of TV. Also, Greg the Bunny was cancelled I believe and that show isn't even funny in most cases. But they replaced Titus' old timeslot with it.
Fox executives are morons, simply put. It's like them taking down all the fansites for the simspsons on the net. What does that do but put a sour taste in the fans mouth?
XFL was over a year ago. Fox offed Family Guy and Futurama in the same year, according to them. I wish this were true and I hope you're right, somehow. But I don't think this is right.Quote:

Leave Greg the Bunny alone! I loved that show. The concept is awesome and some of it is comedic genius. Tardy the turtle is arguably one of the greates puppets ever brought to life.
Download some episodes if you havn't seen it!

Damn, I missed the new episode, but I just watched the Adult Swim airing. Very touching episode, I had tears in my eyes during the finale.
Lila's origins were explained in another episode. The "7 leaf clover" episode was on. One of the best episodes. Hysterical jokes and an awesome story. Fox has it on at the worst damn time.
Does anybody know if the Volume 1 actually means Season 1 or just assorted episodes?
I want every fucking Futurama episode on DVD and I'm willing to pay 500 bucks for it!!!
I taped the new episode, and will be watching it tonight. Also watched the "Glover" ep, and indeed it was very touching.

The new was pretty good, not better than the one about the Clover...but it was funny, thats what counts.
Out of the episodes I have seen, I like Slurm the best. I got the Bender and Fry action figurines for christmas. They're not that important but cool enough.
My favorite episode is the dark matter one where Lela finds that weird ass pet thingie that shits dark matter andd eats all the animals. :lol:
That would be Nibbler, the Nibbloneon. I love how he has one nostril, looks really funny.
Last night's Penguin episode was the best yet. Showing nature's irreverance for the ideals of wacked out PETA nuts is awesome. The part were the Orca ate all those Penguins was hilarious.

They're not allowed to have anything good on the Fox network, Fox didn't want you the veiwer to get them confused with the other networks.

Best Futurama ep was the one with all the video game characters in it.
Low ratings, of course. But supposedly, since Matt Groening refused to give Fox any rights to the show (unlike The Simpsons) other than to just show it, Fox treated it like dirt so they could justifiably cancel it when it got those inevitable low ratings.Quote:

Well, Fox does have 24 which is the best tv show on right now :) But otherwise the programming with such hist as American Idol and Married by America sucks ass.
It was on Sundays for awhile and it did wewll, then they moved it to another day and it didn't do so well. They kept moving the dates around and then when the XFL came around, it would be bumped in favor of showing an XFL game. So then we would go weeks without an episode (hense the stockpile of episodes). So it got really hard to actually catch an episode. Then, I think people forgot it was on. Which led to even worse ratings.

If I were going to have a show with Fox I would demand a set timeslot so they couldn't screw me over. They did that with Family Guy and Titus too. (the horrible Friday night timeslot)
Yeah Titus was great as well but then they moved it to thursday or whatever and it's ratings just dropped... sad times...
Yeah I know. I'm convinced the Bernie Mac show is just a Titus for the black community. I don't mind, but they totally bumped Titus off of it's Wednesday Night 9:30 timeslot for Greg the Bunny and moved it to the same time on Fridays and of course the ratings went down.
The sad part was that Titus had the #2 rating for Wednesdays in most weeks, so it wasn't even like it was bad ratings that put them down until Fox screwed them over.
Bernie Mac isn't that funny to me, but it has its moments. The resemblances between it and Titus are astounding:

Personal thoughts conveyed in a weird room (Bernies den, Titus' black and white box representing his mind)
Girlfriend being bossy - controlling the relationship
Guy making outrageous comments to get him into trouble.
Oh well. Greg the Bunny had its moments too, but Titus had me laughing on a consistent basis. LOL, I remember when Dave came out of the bathroom naked, haha. Or when Tommy went totally nuts because some guy called him gay and he whooped his ass at a bar. It was funny.
Papa Titus was good too.
My favorite episode is the one where they accidently travel back in time to 1947 and crash land in Roswell. Lots of Zoidberg greatness in that one!
I recently was given every episode of futurama up until the 4th episode in the 5th season on cd. I've been watching ten episodes a day :) . I think I prefer this to the simpsons now.

Incase anybody is wondering, I got the DVD Season 1, watched them all and am eagerly awaiting Season 2, 3, 4 and the unreleased 5th season. (doubt it'll make it)
Picked up Season 1 DVD. Quality is great, show looks sharp and crisp on DVD. Minimal extras though. I like how each disc has it's own dvd slim case. nice. Great funny episodes. Can't wait for the other seasons!
BTW, anyone pick up CSI DVD? Now that's a good drama show. Stylish and well written.
I've never actually been a fan of Futurama. Well, I didn't actually make an attempt to watch it every time it was on, but I did watch it if I came up to it while channel surfing. It's a funny show. I'm probably going to get the DVD. Has anyone seen it below 30?

I think there is a new episode on Fox tomarrow...at least an episode at 7 there is.
The new DVD box set comes out in a month or so here! and because they're being released as production seasons and not airing seasons, the next dvd set will have around 20 episodes on it!

basically, the one's they finished in one season, they give to us, rather than the episodes that actually aired in the season. More bang for your buck.

Back on topic, looks like CN is starting the FR episodes over. Last nights episode was about Star Trek (really funny) and tonight's looks to be the pilot episode. As far as I know this is the first time they are starting over. I guess they ran out of episodes? And as far as I know the episode on Fox last night was *new*.
last nights Fox episode was great. I loved it how everyone thought Zoidberg was dead and then they found out it was his brother. Was the episode that was on AS the last episode before the "new" episodes or is that all that CN has the rights to?

Cartoon Network has rekindled my love of this show. I barely watched it on Fox because I got tired of searching for it after football or in new time slots. Even to the end the show had great humor, compared to the Simpsons which really needs to end soon. *-neo

That DVD set is great. I haven't seen the show in awhile and forgot how funny it was. The commentary tracks are great to, this is a really nice treat before the 3rd season of the Simpsons when that show really started to shine. Season 3-9 are highly anticipated on my list.
I can't wait for the good episodes of the simpsons to be released on DVD. My favorite episode is probably the one where homer becomes Quimby's bodyguard :lol:

If you look at the picture with Fry, Bender and Leela walking in their space suits, you'll notice that they are in the order from right to left: Fry, Bender, then Leela. But during the actual show, the order is from right to left: Fry, Leela, then Bender. Just thought I'd point that out for those who hadnt noticed.

This DVD is amazing. I also got Family Guy but after watching a bunch of them I must say that Family Guy isn't all that funny aside from the shock value of the show and the slurs. Futurama is much more comically written.
Volume 2 comes out in September and it will be mine!!!:evil:

I love the Married with Children send-up in that ep. Never noticed how fantastic the internet stuff was. Really puts the Interfection ep of ATHF to shame.

So wait I'm confused. Where is the 2nd volume out now and where is the 3rd volume coming out in June? This is by far my favorite US animated series, I find it much better than the Simpsons and slightly better than Family Guy. I can't wait to pick up the next volumes.

Family guy is a riot at first, but the more you see it the less funny you find it. Still, its a great show.
Family Guy is great in short bursts, but if I watch more than one episode of it at a time, I grow weary of it. Still looking to find the DVD for a decent price though.
So what the hell is going on with the release of Season 2 and 3? 4 and 5 are far off, but what the hell?
Season 2 is supposedly scheduled for September 6th or so, isn't it? So how can Season 3 be out in June. I've made some investigatory rumblings and the best I can come up with is that the June release is for PAL regions.
Wasn't there only about 3 seasons worth of shows made? (around 60 episodes). I know the Family Guy DVD set is seasons 2 and 3. I gotta get both of these when I get the money. It'll free up som HD space ;).
