Acquire

They haven't made many games but I'm a big fan of Acquire.

Tenchu was excellent and finally brought the stealth aspect to ninja games. Tenchu 2 was a disappointment but probably could have been great if more time was spent on it.

Way of the Samurai is one of the most innovative games of this era. It's very open-ended for a Japanese developed game and an awesome beat 'em up/adventure/RPG hybrid. It's not for everyone but I loved it.

The weird thing about their games is that people seem to love them or are completely indifferent to them. Magazine reviewers almost always give 7's to their games.

With the Tenchu series now under a different developer, it will be interesting to see what Acquire does next. What do you think of them and what kind of games would you like to see them make?

I'd like them to expand on what they started with Tenchu and WotS and create a full-on feudal Japan game world ala Morrowind. Give them more freedom then WotS had (I hated how you couldn't kill certain people or couldn't kill them at certain times) and the ability to head your own house. Hell yeah.

I really want to check out Way of the Samurai, the style looks very cool, and I'm a fan of Tenchu too.

That would own, but this could apply to so many games.

I think a huge game like Morrowind is bit much to ask of Acquire at this point, but that would be dreamy.
I think they should give WotS another shot. Its a great game as is, but they could make it SO much better if they tried. They nailed the fighting system, but the story, graphics, and variety of stuff to do could be improved. the result would be one of the best games in years.

Tenchu and Way of the Samurai are excellent, I can't wait to see what Acquire does next.

Tenchu is one of the greatest games ever made. Tenchu 2 was a major dissapointment. Way of the Samurai was very innovative and fun. Very good, but not great.

They're a very good developer overall, though I'm still pissed about how Tenchu 2 turned out. :) K2 seems to be doing fine with Tenchu 3, anyway. I'm looking forward to Aquire's next game, whatever it may be.

I forgot to ask, what's Spike's relationship with Acquire?

I'll buy WOTS, when it's not 40-50 Bucks.

You're in luck, Way of the Samurai is $20-ish used, probably $25 new at EB.

And I haven't played it yet either, hopefully I'll be able to fix that once I beat the current pile of games into submission.

I imagine $20 is the price for a new copy in the States since EBs in Canada now sell it for $30 new.
