www.zeropaid.com- listing of file sharing programs, tells you which ones have spyware and which ones don't. Thanks for that link, Bahn.
Good article. I've been running Adware 5 on both my work and home pc, but my config file needed some cleaning.
Thanks Bahn :p
Good site and article.
Um... "msconfig" doesn't work on my win2k pro machine, and I can't remember the command to get to the equivelant. Anyone know it?
go to the command console....and type "ipconfig"
For some haggard ass reason nothing happens.
edit: Actually a window appears for a split second, and then dissappears.
There was a less user friendly adware remover if I remember, that worked better though. Just cant remember the damn site.
delete

great site bahn. i've been a victim to the "messenger service" popups. time to get rid of them. :)
I recomend a shotgun. Problem is it only works once. :bang:
One good site IMHO is www.spywareinfo.com . Also worth checking out is www.grc.com (Gibson Research Corporation).
Hate those spam harvesters that just round up email addresses? Spywareinfo has a means of striking back at them to hopefully dissuade them from keeping up this tactic ("The Harvester Project").
Search msconfig on the net and download it, ittl work in win2k.. the startup stuff anyways...
I ran Spybot under both my Windows XP and 98 partitions, the other day.
XP had more spyware than I thought, and all of it was removed.
98, however, gave me illegal operations whenever I would open a friggin' window. After running Spybot, and without even restarting, 98 ran perfectly.
