Wimpy jerk neighbors

Welp, tonight I was sitting happily playing Xenosaga around 8pm at night when I get a knock on the door. I open up the door, and ta-da! The police...noise complaint. Now, I will admit that I have a pretty nice sound system and all, but my sub isn't even anywhere near where it should be (it's probably about -20dB from the rest of the speakers when it should really be set to -6db to -10dB. Also, I only had the stereo at -25dB (read decent listening volume), and to top it all off...it was 8PM.

I never even got a knock on my door from any of the neighbors saying, "Hey, you know what, the stereo's coming through really loud up/down here...would you mind turning it down a bit?" Then maybe I could've worked with them to find out what the best setting is for a compromise. I don't even know who it was.

Maybe it's just me, but when you move into an apartment, you're not moving into a house. If someone lives above you, you're gonna hear them walking around. If someone has a dog, you're gonna hear it barking. If someone has a stereo, you're gonna hear some bass. There's a reason why an apartment is several hundred dollars a month less than a house, and it's not because you have to take your own trash to the dumpster. Sometimes I just want to kill people. :mad:

I suggest you tell the police that the laws regaurding noise pollution clearly state that if it can't be heard or atleast vibrate a window a block away then it's not noise pollution. Follow that up with "It's 8'fucking'PM, tell him he can go fuck himself!"

I hate people for this. I can remember my landlord calling me because the idiot next door was trying to sleep and she didn't even bother to ask me about anything before complaining. Hell I was just about to head over to ask if she could help me find out if she could hear anything and the bloody phone was ringing! Anyway, I still went over to ask and I guess she wasn't expecting me over right away. (did she think I was gonna go after her or anything? sheesh)

At my last apartment, my neighbor chick would play her screwed rap music until 3 in the morning every night. With the bass turned all the way up.

One morning me and a roomate shoved our guitar amps(100W apiece) against her wall, plugged our guitars in, and started playing the mod godawful shit ever. After about 5 minutes, we went into the kitchen(our ears were bleeding pretty much), but we left the guitars on the amps to feedback for about another 10 minutes. She didn't play anymore rap music at night after that.

I've got the rudest assholes for neighbors on the face of the planet earth. They're up til' 3 AM every day practicing drums AND guitar, which is just a tad annoying.

Pfft, you think that's bad? When I lived in the "ghetto" part of Worcester, Ma, I'd hafta put up with my neighbors playing "Spanish Ragae" all night up until 2am, or so a good five days a week. Now I won't be the only Puerto Rican you'll hear say this, but I fucking hate the shit that these people call music, Spanish Ragae is an unjust travesty to the ears of respectable musicians. It's one man with a half-drunken raspy voice (if you could only hear my impersonation right now you'd understand) repeating the same three or four cus words in Spanish, ("Puta-puta, puta-puta. Beja-aco-o, chinga su madre, puneta. Puta-Bejaca, puta-bejaca." My spelling may be a bit off) while a chorus of talented yes-men and hangers on "rap" out the chorus line repeatedly without a single break in the monotonous pattern, don't even get me started on the "Live" versions of this crap.

My neighbours often wake me up in the morning with country music. I don't complain though. I play my music pretty loud at times.

Just wait until I get a decent bass amp >:)

Hah, I had an encounter with some noisy neighbors a while ago.

You all know ( or at least you do now ) that I work Grave Shift, 11 p.m. - 7 a.m., just like I've done for the past 2-3 years.

Well, I used to come home everyday ( get in the bed around 7:45 a.m. ) only to hear my rude-ass neighbors arguing back and forth for several hours.

So, despite being the short tempered person that I am, I went easy, and slid a note into their mail slot, explaining on how I am trying to sleep, and they are preventing me from doing so. He told me ( through a return note ) that they were sorry in their own rude-yet-polite little way. I wasn't totally convinced, and w/ good reason.

The next day, they are right back at it again. THIS time, I call the on-base housing office. I don't know what the heck they told them, but it worked. I hadn't heard a peep out of them since.

The last place we lived...omfg, worst neighbors ever.

Like three times a week (even in winter) they grill outside, so before I move the next time we're gonna sneak over and I'm gonna take the meat off their grill. :D

I own a house now though.

Smart man. I'm still about 5 years away, I guess, but having my own 2 or 3-bedroom home is the ultimate goal. And it's got to be away from the city. :)
