Take a look at this IGN article. Jason Rubin of Naughty Dog dropped a nice, juicy hint, saying they were developing a video game sequel. When he was asked if that would be the eagerly-awaited Jak and Daxter 2, he wouldn't confirm it outright. But, he said that if such an announcement were to be made, then expect it really soon. ;)
I've already seen rumors on other sites indicating that this game could be officially announced as early as Monday, March 3. I'm hoping that it is!
I'd me amazed in a J&D 2 was made, but enthralled, since I loved the first game.
Ratchet and Clank or Sly Cooper 2 before this, please.
Jak and Daxter is easily one of the best platformers around... a sequel would be great (and please explain what was behind that door at the end...)

I think Andrew was just saying that he'd rather see sequels to those games before one to J&D, I didn't see anything where he mentioned developers.
And I am just saying that since they are made by different developers all 3 sequels could theoretically be made at the same time. No sense having one at the expense of the others unless they came from the same place. :)Quote:

I'd rather a J&D2 just plain out never exists, but I'll learn to deal with ignoring another game so no biggie.

in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't hear of such an announcement shortly. There's going to be SO many surprised this year. I can't wait to see them all.

Jak & Daxter was a very good game, I am looking forward to the sequel. However, I'd much rather see a Sly Cooper sequel because I enjoyed that game very much. :-)
Yes, a Sly Cooper sequal would be the best but I doubt that'll happen. I don't think it sold very well.
A J&D2 sequal is more than welcomed however.

I much prefer the games I mentioned. Also, i think Sly Cooper didn't sell well because it had a lame advertising campaign that didn't really stand out or anything. Point being the major public weren't too aware of it.
There was a post here a few weeks ago that showed the December sales in the US. On that list, Sly Cooper was said to have sold over 180,000 copies (total) by the end of December. Although that's not great, I wouldn't say that's bad, either.Quote:

This article says that it is believed that Sly Cooper 2 is being worked on. I sure hope so!
Also, Sony had a contest a few months ago that invited participants to design a character that would fit into the Sly Cooper storyline. The winner of the contest would win a trip to visit Sucker Punch (the developer), and have his character included in Sly Cooper 2.
Here's one other point to consider: Sony seems to be fine with making sequels to games that attracted great critical praise, even if sales weren't quite up to expectations. For example, Frequency is getting a sequel (which I am looking forward to), and I'd be surprised if that game outsold Sly Cooper. There's also rumors of a sequel to Ico (another fine game that unfortunately was overlooked by the public) in development.

Plus the game was cel-shaded. Oddly enough, cel-shaded games don't seem to sell well in the US at all. Sly, Jet Set, I bet Auto Modelista (sp?) doesn't do as well as it would if it weren't cel shaded.Quote:

I didn't think so. I thought the story and levels were better in R&C and Jak and Daxter had alot of flat minigames such as the fish catching.
I will say that R&C doesn't do anything out there and new. But it sticks to the straight and narrow with a nice story and is a solid good play. Actually I bought the game because of the awesome commercial campaign they had going (I did read up on it, though) and I'm glad I did.
Cell shaded games don't sell well... hmm. I think it's because photo realism is what most North Americans in general want. Cel shading is seen more as a step back to the 2D era which, of course, is only supposed to be in pocket gaming, according to the general public.
The main problem with the PS2 is that when a blockbuster title is coming out in the year, everybody focuses on it. (of course not the intensive gamers, such as ourselves.) So games like Dynasty Warriors, ICO, and Sly Cooper are overlooked for games like GTA, MGS and THPS

Yeah, it got good press, but that doesn't mean it sold well. Personally soeaking, at the EB I work at, even when we were supposed to be pushing Sony products and had them all up front advertised, Sly was the worst selling title. Because of the small size of the store we keep the worst selling games in the back. Sly was in the back.Quote:

I liked the fish catching minigame! It was reminiscent of Kaboom! by Activision, which was a really fun game. Or, I suppose you could compare it to the obscure 1978 Atari arcade game Avalanche. Here's something interesting: Kaboom! was originally started as a 2600 conversion of Avalanche, before Larry Kaplan left Atari and became one of the original Activision crew.Quote:

My only complaint about that--and most of J&D's minigames--was that once you completed the challenge, you couldn't go back to replay the minigame "just for fun." You would have to start over from the beginning, or be fortunate enough to have a save of another session where that minigame hadn't already been completed.
Of Sony's "big three" PS2 platform games, I think Sly Cooper had the best minigames. To be fair, I still haven't finished Ratchet & Clank.

When I first played the demo of Sly Cooper, I was simply blown away! That was the first cel-shaded game that I got into. Later, after I got the game and was showing it to a friend, I remarked that we now have the technology to make a cartoon-style game that looks as good as Dragon's Lair did in 1983, but has the freedom of movement and depth of gameplay that's expected of most contemporary video games. My friend agreed with me.
Sadly, the cel-shading technique is already starting to become trite. Now that developers know how to implement it, we're seeing games that employ cel-shading simply for the sake of having cel-shading, rather than giving the game the full artistic attention it deserves. Most cel-shaded games are somewhat ugly; games like JGR/JSRF, Sly Cooper, or The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker are quickly becoming the exception rather than the rule.
BTW, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker seems to be doing very well in presales, despite some initial protest to the shift in art style. This might be the game that finally convinces the mainstream audience to accept cel-shaded polygon graphics.

You're kidding, right? Ratchet & Clank isn't fit to hold Jak & Daxter's jock-strap. The animation was fluid, the gameplay was solid, and the characters had personality. It was an amazing game and I, for one, am glad for a sequel.Quote:

I thought the characters were one dimensional. One for comedic relief and one's the 'dashing hero' that all of them fall into. Atleast in R&C you had a heavy emphasis on their different pitfalls and traits.
I don't believe Jak and Daxter wears a jock-strap, but if it did nothing would be holding it.
Agent X: To me it doesn't matter what the graphics look like as long as it has solid gameplay behind it.
A couple months back I was in an EB two blocks from Naughty Dog and overheard some guy talking to the clerk about J&D. He concluded the conversation with "If you liked that, you'll be blown away by what we're doing on the next one."
So I doubt it's Way of the Warrior 2. ;)
