*Hears a bomb dropping*
Betcha you're gonna be able to buy it for like, $79.99 with a service plan from AT&T or what not. Betcha.
Which would help it a lot. I know I'd definately consider that price plan.Quote:

way to compete against a $70 handheld with tons of games that currently holds %99 of its market.Quote:

$280? That's hilarious. I'll buy it off ebay two weeks after launch for $20.
Fuck, this thing better be available through Sprint or Verizon. T-Mobile and AT&T suck.
Betcha it'll have only crappy games and not many either.
They can all suck my ass. The only reason I would get it is to play games. For 279, they better get the maple syrup because sumbuddy is gunna tass mah sahlad!
PS: Sorry to be so brash...
considering it has to compete with the GBA SP and its amazing game library, I know that it will crash and burn at tha pice... there justaint no need to pay that much!
That made me cringe. I'm all for a new handheld system, this N-gage thing made me get excited...but now. Now I think I'm not buying one, along with every other intelligent gamer out there.
The word "amazing" in reference to Game Boy Advance is pretty iffy. I would prefer the term "the same fucking shit I played 10 years ago on the SNES with a bunch of crap THQ and other 3rd party companies that dont put out anything good".Quote:

*added later*
Not to mention "a design that turns my hand into a mangled claw plus the shittiest screen ever... unless I spend $100 to get a replacement that is basically what it shouldve been on day one... but that one sucks in different ways".
Monopoly = bad. GBA is shit. The library is shit, the system is shit, the SP is shit.

hey ten years oldor not they are grat games... plus with original titles like the new castlevanias, advance wars, and golden sun there is no doubt the system has great games...

unless this goddamn thing makes my breakfast for me, im not buying it.
$280 for N-Gage? Oh, really competitive. This will be the 3DO of handheld systems.
*Suffers a brief bout of tinnitus as a result of that loud, sickening THUD.*
I'm surprised you all are reacting so skeptically to N-Gage.
Just imagine the possibilities of this thing. It's a CELLULAR gaming platform, people. That means you can play people over the network. Imagine Advance Wars-type network games, fighting games, card games...the possibilities are endless.
As diffx said, it's not going to retail just at $280. Some (or several) providers will offer package deals. Besides, when's the last time you bought a $300 cell phone and nothing else? Same deal here.
I have high hopes for N-Gage. Cellular gaming is the future.
I dont buy cell phones plain and simple... plus just look at the thing... it looks so hard t play... wierd btton lay out and all...
I personally don't want to play handheld games against other people, online or otherwise. I play handheld games usually for 5-10 mins at a stretch and at odd times, which would make online gaming difficult in that situation.
As for GBA's library... I bought my GBA for one game, which was not a port, and it's the only handheld game I'll need for the forseable future. Sure, the Ngage could have a game like that, but it'll cost me a heck of a lot more to get it.
If they just made it a Video Game System rather then a Phone + Game System it would be better, I don't want a lame ass cell phone. And at $279, hahahahahahahahahahha! Say good night to the super ugly Ngage.
IMHO:Quote:

Tactics Ogre
Metroid Fusion
Dodgeball
Mega Man Battle Network
Mega Man Battle Network 2
F-Zero
Castlevania Circle of the Moon
Castlevania Harmony of Dissonance
Sonic Advance
Golden Sun
Mega Man Zero
Would make it a worthwhile library.
Then when you consider the titles that are coming out soon:
Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire
Final Fantasy Tactics
Golden Sun 2
The Final Fantasy Legend Remake - (which seems that with its new graphics/story/gameplay elements will be removed from the port syndrome)
Mega Man Battle Network 3
Mega Man Zero 2
Sonic Advance 2
When you factor in the ports (because not everybody has played all those games), the GBA has a rock-solid library. IMHO of course. :)
cellular gaming our future? :o
god, I hope not.
A cunning reference, no less.Quote:

The possibilities won't be reached. Not in this generation. N-Gage's target market is more enamored with Snake than Solid Snake.Quote:

Nope, wont be. No CDMA version is even in the works. GSM is great, in europe. To bad the dominate cell phone standard in the US is CDMA.
I don't get it. Snake Plisskin?Quote:

Snake like the cell phone game.. I think.
like the old school PC game where you move a tiny line across the screen eating things of various sorts and it causes your snake to grow and the whole time you need to avoid hitting the walls and hitting yourself
Nice referenc, S11p. I don't think the N-Gage has a hope in hell at this price. They've got to lower it to, at most, $150. And that's only if they market the hell out of the multi-faceted nature of the thing.
At the risk of sounding like a dick...what did you expect?
Cell phones are expensive. Find one large screen, color, cell phone that you can buy for less than $100...WITHOUT a contract, just straight up purchase.
You might be able to find a service who'll offer you a rebate on it with a plan, it is after all a cell phone more or less like any other.
Hell if it was, say, $90 that'd be the steal of the year as far as cells go.
Wanna spend $300 on a handheld? Buy a pocket PC or palm pilot.
Nah, man, that's too kind, at least the 3DO had some redeeming games like the awesome Star Control 2 port, Return Fire, Lucienne's Quest, etc.Quote:

It could be more like the CD-I of game systems...that one didn't have a single, worthwhile, original title in it's library. It crashed and burned so bad people don't even bother to use it in failed game system pop culture references and use 3DO/Jaguar instead (both of which had some pretty good games). I think the only worthwhile thing that ever came out for CD-I was the port of the PC's 7th Guest, which is supposed to be the best version of the game that was made.
As for the N-Gage, man, I sincerely hope there are some package deals out there that will drop the price to the $80-100 range, no way in hell anyone's gonna by a portable gaming system that costs more than a PS2 or X-Box...
The CD-i ports of pretty much all the FMV games of the day were usually the best. I remember EGM gushing over them.
The CD-I had a handful of good games, and a buttload of crappy ones.
Id get in detail, but its waaaaaaaay off topic...
please do, or send me PM, i just got both a CD-i and a 3do for free, and i would love to find out what are the good games/software to track down.
plik get a 6 button control pad and Super Street Fighter II Turbo for your 3D0
When 3DO first came out, that $700 price tag didn't do much for it.Quote:

Once Panasonic cut their 3DO's price down to $400, it did pick up some... keeping it at $700 was no option.
I'm guessing Nokia may drop the price on N-Gage at some point in the future. If it falls to about $149 later on (give it a year or two perhaps), I may consider it.
Things that beep really tick me off for some reason. I have a photography course and we're second semester in and using Digital cameras and those things beep so damn much. It drives me nuts.
