Famitsu is supposed to be a respectable mag...I dunno. I couldn't give a shit about FFX-2, however.
Famitsu was the gaming mag of record for most of the 90s, although they had a penchant for kissing Nintendo's ass. I mean EGM ripped them off in terms of style and content along with many other mags. They are still very respectable though. I'm more interested in thouse VF4 Evo scores! 9, 10, 9 , 9.
famitsu i don't consider reliable for predicting my tastes. sometimes we agree, sometimes not at all.
GAF isn't reliable. =)
still, i don't care what FFX-2 gets from anywhere, i'm sure to want to play it myself and find out for myself. i'd like to see the text of the reviews much more than the score, although the text in famitsu is pretty much a joke.
They are considered by many to be the GamePro of Japan, so take that as you will. I don't keep up with their scores and can't read their reviews so I can't say how good they are.Quote:

The original FFX got 39/40.... take that as you will. I've yet to play FFX, I'll probably play it alongside X-2. I hope that it's nothing like 8( the art in X is definetely worse).
Well, if we adjust my feelings for FFX to Famitsu's and go on that they liked FFX-2 less then FFX... well, I think people here know what I place that. On the bright side, it's probably better then Mystic Quest.Quote:

In the words of a sarcastic Selphie (okay, I confess: I really was just looking for an excuse to post this):
Hmm...34 isn't bad...
November is a long way off :(
So then what's a reliable source for game ratings?
nothing. Just play what looks like fun for you. Or read the reviews. Never trust ratings or scores.
Yeah. Mags should just explain the game's pros and cons as best they can (if it's in the middle), or straight out recommend or trash a title.
Sorry, xS... I went into X hoping it wouldn't be like VIII, too. It really isn't, but the art style is even worse (boggles the mind), and the story just wasn't enough to make up for it (especially that voice acting, bleah). I sort of drifted away from it slowly... I'll probably MAKE myself beat it, like I had to do with FFVIII and Tomb Raider III.
Why do you make yourself play games you hate, Mzo?
Shut up, that's why.
I think EGM's "The good, the bad, and the ugly" feature for previews was a fantastic way to get a lot of info out in a very small amount of space. It's a shame they didn't do that kind of thing for reviews.
So, uh, why is that?Quote:

to be fair thats like 3 and a 1/2 stars outta 4 if you do some basic fraction work... that's not to bad...
Eh it seems like the only reason anyone cares is because they review games first. Its a good system having four people giving their opinion though.
They give just about every game around 35, unless it's Zelda which gets a perfect score. Really, I've never seen them give anything below 30.

"Universal Studios Japan/ Action/ Kemco/ 5, 5, 5, 5 (20/40)"
I think they gave prime a 33.
There isn't, since it's a retarded concept.Quote:

Famitsu overrates almost everything. They basically give scores on a scale of 7-10, and rarely do you see a total less than 32. Every game is, in their view, at least well above everage.
On another note Prime sold 44,000 copies in Japan it's first week, probably wasn't a good idea releasing it the same week as Sakura and a new Dynasty Warriors... *-neoQuote:
