bleemcast beta leaked

i don't mean to condone piracy, (although i don't think this is the case), but a bleemcast beta has been leaked on to the net.

in short, it rocks, but in most cases you can see why they chose to go with the single-game deal..

but i just finished testing a few PSX games, and the ones listed below work either 100% perfect or pretty damn good.

-Xenogears
-Castlevania SOTN (not quite full speed)
-Tenchu (a bit too fast)
-Klonoa
-Einhander (choppy music)
-ONE
-R4
-Devil Dice
-Megaman X4
-Silent Bomber
-R-Type Delta (!)
-Strider 2

all running in full speed.....in VGA..... on my DC. :D

and the damn thing is less than 2 mb.

Under 2MB? Damn, that's awesome. R4 must look awesome in VGA.

I just nabbed the rar and it was like 350kb, unrared to a 1.8 mb file :D

I still have a sealed bleemcast copy for GT2. I am disappointed I never got one for MGS :(

Hmmm... I might just have to search that out.

Not TECHNICALLY... but since SONY won the lawsuit, I don't think it is "legal..."

just tried it with klonoa.) bleem doesn't seem to like streaming audio/video at all, but the in-game graphics look great in vga.

i didn't think sony won any of the lawsuits.. bleem was considered fully legal.

sony forced them out by driving up their legal costs.. that's all.

Ok, some stuff I've found out after playing with Bleem for like 10-15 mins.
The screen you are welcomed by will indice seaizures.
It WILL boot imports, my Cotton 100% plays very well, though with a few oddities (I need to try without an arcade stick next time)
It WILL boot backups and imports, I made a backup of my Elemental Gearbolt (US) that works on Bleem, I put the backup in the DC, low and behold, it works the same as the real thing, glitches and all.

sadly, wipeout xl runs poorly. doesn't even get past the opening fmv. that game would completely rock at 640x480.

ok from this point, i'm done PMing.. if you want it, just post your request and hopefully someone'll get it to you..

and yea.. too bad about wipeout XL.. i tried it too.. didn't go past the load screen.

Tested games:
WipeOut3 (doesn't get past "loading" screen)
Elemental Gearbolt (doesn't like FMV's but ingame is perfect)
Vangaurd Bandits (works, though siezurey the first few minutes)
Cotton Original (Works, though will pause itself for no reason)
R-Types (doesn't load)
Shooter Starfighter Sanveign (doesnt boot)
Raycrisis (seems a little slow, but works 100%)
Pocket Fighter (goes to "now loading" screen, flashes like a MoFo and doesnt go past there)

Why I feel like the Bleem guys did this on purpose. :)

They won in court because, while they did reverse engineer the way a playstation works, they didn't use the ps bios that's considered proprietary and copyrighted and got around the whole piracy issue. If Sony wouldn't have run Bleem under with a ton of unfounded lawsuits we actually would have got something great.

yea i think there was another in development that was actually kinda working.. but nowhere near the quality that bleemcast gets w/ some of these games..

BTW, i hope you guys are PM-ing (those that i PM'd).. i already did my fair share.. :P

DiffX there is another PSX emulator for DC but it's horrible, runs at a frame a second. *-neo

some people have reported that castlevania: SOTN plays perfectly w/ full speed and sound, but when i tested it, the speed was a bit slow, and sound had scratches in it..

but i was using a backup because a friend borrowed my original... so that could possibly be it.

And you need to use DiskJuggler to burn it and follow the 2 instructions given in the readme.txt file.

thanks freak...those .nfo files always throw me off.

Nice bit of info in that file, but it still doesn't confirm/deny the ability to play PSX imports via the use of it.

If you go back and read one of my earlier posts, I can confirm it does play imports, it plays my Cotton original almost fine (Cotton Original = JPN game) though I have no other PSX games that aren't US to test, so take that as you will.

i tried Winning eleven 4.. and worked pretty good, except the unifromsts wre messed up, and all one color..

Rival schools Jpn.. sucks do. i think it almost give me a serizure with all its flikers, its slow as hell to..

All I can say is wwwweeee!!! It ain't perfect but perhaps the homebrew community can improve upon it.

Edit: If you don't have this yet it can be easily found in newsgroups. I tried a bunch of games on it (it plays backups and imports!):

So far most of these games have glitchy intros and FMV.
Vagrant Story: It looks great but when you walk around it "beeps" like you're pac amn or something. Also the game is faster than normal.
Parappa: Doesn't Load
Colony Wars: Vengeance : No dice
Tekken 3: Glitchy everything. Lack of textures. Slow as molasses.
Chono Cross: Can't get past the "New Game" screen--the title screen looks nice though
Thunderforce V: WORKS PERFECT LOOKS AMAZING
Omega Boost: Playing and looked great until I beat the first level than the game crashed.

Just tried it. Kinda neat, but glad I didn't pay for this shit. Not one of my games played at full speed or without glaring errors. Every one of them has completely screwed up FMVs and many flicker and have missing textures and such.

I am a very happy boy. :D

What might those 2 instructions be, exactly? The file from MVS' link doesn't have a readme file, and I keep getting write errors trying to burn it :(

I had to drop down to disk juggler 3.5 to get it to work.

you're supposed to ignore those errors when you first load the image..

ugh, windows sucks, CD bunrner sucks, drivers sucks, windows sucks, uncracked CD burning software sucks. I think I'll save myself the rage and just play my games on my PSX...

it's not a discjuggler error, it's a windows error. whenever i go to explore, the program closes. i'm trying discjuggler 3.50 right now, but i got the same error. the "start" button stays grayed out no matter what i try.

cdi to nero i think doesnt work.. i tried and it didnt boot.. however i burend with alchol 120% and worked likea charm..

Get a full copy of DiscJuggler 3 or 4. Start a CD Image to CD Recorder Project and select the .cdi file as the source image. Do not burn it in Raw format as the nfo suggests, I found that Castlevania didn't load on several occasions probably because of this. It will freeze on you sooner or later anyway.

I tried Tekken 3: runs slow(around 5 fps) and missing some textures but it does run.
Castlevania SOTN: Runs but crashes, Text and sound are messed up. Some levels play at full speed.

too bad nero doesn't work.. i haven't even heard of alcohol 120% until now.

and seen, what do you mean Raw format?? in DJ, is that the check under the advanced tab? i don't think that was checked anyway.. and i don't remember the .nfo suggesting to do that.

john - unclick the thing that talks about a "post-gap" and click the thing about "RAW burn" after that, you should be ready to rawk in DJ.

Frog - yes, it doesn't seem to like FMV's and streaming audio. The intro for Elemental Gearbolt is damn near unplayable, so I skip it.
