Forgotten Worlds

I found a copy of Capcom's Forgotten Worlds for the Genny recently.

I had previously only know about this game from some assorted Capcom art and from cameos of the two heroes in SFA2 (ken background) and as helper characters in MVC.


Its a translation of a 1988 arcade game:

It plays like a 2D sidescrolling Space Harrier. You move your jetpacked hero around the screen with the ability to aim your weapon at all angles around you. Its not quite a shmup and not quite a run-and-gun game either.

I highly recommend this one if you ever come across it.



Any fans of this forgotten game?

Yeah my buddy bought is when it first came out and we finished it all in one sitting, once he opened it Good game but short and easy at least with two players.

I'm planning on picking up the Turbo Duo one some day.

I have the Turbografx CD version. I always wanted it to be more fun than it was. I like the look of the game -- the blonde hero in particular just screams 80s coolness -- but the gameplay just never engaged me.

It had some great Engrish, too. "You cannot beat me with only a paramecium," or somesuch.

Yeah, I loved this game. One of my favorite Genesis games, but it was truly amazing in the arcade.

Hearing all this good stuff about the game has made me want to seek out a copy.

Funny you mention it because I recently scored a mint, complete copy for like 5 bucks at EB, but the damn thing didn't work--it booted the SEGA logo and then jumped right to the game over screen...

So yeah, I love it and will be getting another working copy soon...

I played this game at the arcade extensively and loved it. One thing that I thought was cool is that the game used the same monetary system (Zennys) as Black Tiger, which was my favorite Capcom coin-op at the time. As much as I loved the Genesis and PC Engine versions of this game, they could not compare to the arcade version because of the dial button (ala Taito's Front Line) where you could move in eight directions and hold it in to shoot.

However, the first thing I remember when this game is mentioned is that I had a chance to buy the arcade game for $75 in mint condition, but I didn't call my friend in time :mad: bah!

Whoa there buddy! The game works. I had it do this to me as well. Well at least it did this when I use a 6 Button pad. I tried using a 3 button one and it worked fine. And then I tried holding down the "MODE" button on the 6 button pad while it boots up and it worked fine as well. Very odd indeed.
