Possibly the most important documentary of 2003, though the only place you’ll see it in this country is most likely to be film festivals, as there isn’t a studio in the United States with the balls to release it, or the willingness to draw the steam and fire they’d get from the Bush Administration and his supporters for marketing or distributing it. Nor is there a major television network that’ll broadcast it. It isn’t artistic censorship, but it is political & more importantly a result of economic censorship.
What is THE REVOLUTION WILL NOT BE TELEVISED?
It is perhaps the best and most remarkable at the time of history documentary I have ever seen. Capturing every side of a remarkable coup that occurred in Venezuela where the Democratically elected President Hugo Chavez, a true man of the people of Venezuela, was captured and came very close to disappearing from the face of the planet, due to his attacks on the Bush Administration’s collateral damage in Afghanistan in his War On Terrorism. And two, his position on the oil supply of Venezuela (3rd Largest Producer of Oil in the World!), so that the wealth of Venezuela would help to bring education, medicine and enlightenment to the peoples of his country.

Sounds like something I'd like to see. I vaguely remember hearing about it, but I dunno.

Dangerous precedent

It seems that Washington jumped the gun. Now back in power, President Chavez says he never resigned - despite pressure from his captors.

Certainly in past decades his ousting would have been described by most as a classic pro-US military coup, even if it did not involve tanks rumbling through the streets.

If it had succeeded, it would have set an extremely dangerous precedent for Latin American democracy - hence the alarm of other Latin American leaders.

Are you using this film as a way to criticize the American government, or what?

There are many brilliant movies that we just cannot see every year because of the economic powers that be in Hollywood. Its unfortunate, but it happens all the time. This is why, if you go to the Cinemania section, I have to track down the region 3 versions of brilliant Korean films... cause they're just not coming to America for whatever reason.

I can testify to that. There are so many good movies that don't get released here. Indie filmmaking is something of a hobby of mine and from what I've seen, there are movies made in the U.S. that don't get released all the time. But I think your missing his point.

The Nazi party never won a legit election. The largest percentage they received in an election before Hitler became chancellor was 37%. Hitler used shady deals and treachery to seize power in Germany. The establishment at the time tried to use him, and in the end he ended up outsmarting them and grabbing all the power.

What is is his point? That the movie will not be released in the USA? Well, here's some food for thought: how many documentaries HAVE seen widespread release in the USA? Not many, outside of Moore's shameful effort.

Anyway, the movie may not come out because Hollywood doesnt want to take the heat from the White House (but Hollywood is so overwhelmingly liberal, why wouldnt they?), but the fact that its not released here in the USA because of that is neither here nor there.

Seems like you didnt read the article/rview then.
