teenwolf, you'd be best served to do a search for threads Almaci has posted in and read through them, otherwise this thread will take another turn and we'll cover even more already covered ground. But to sum it up, he's Pro-Palestinian, Anti-Israel even though he's Pro-Turkey, Anti-Armenian. Weird.

I find it hilarious that all this guy is guilty of is stating a few interesting facts, with his only commentary being that if the peace movement wanted to be a true peace movement, it would oppose all agression, not just those backed by the US. But I guess you wouldn't read that. Oh no. You just see that his numbers, dates and figures shake your comfy foundation of what you believe to be gospel truth, and so you polarize the author to the extreme right, being bed buddies with Bush and all. Knock it off.
And as I said the worldwide peacemovements have condemned those acts as well while US media was happily ignoring them.
There WERE protests against saddam over here there WERE protests against idi Amin over here, there WERE protests against the USSR/Afghan civil war over here.
What this dimwit is doing is distorting events to fit his own narrow view, he is like an ostrich, sticking his head in the sand and claiming things never happened becouse he didnt see em.
Of course the protests against the US are enormous right now, part of that is becouse the US has become the lone superpower and its actions could mean an escalation of force world wide, but to claim no one protested against Saddam or idi Amin is blatantly false.
Lots of people did, to claim otherwise is willfully distorting the truth to further corner a legit peace movement.

Im a Turk, im also doing my damned best to keep from being drafted(Turkey still has a draft) becouse i dont agree with a lot of Turkeys policies, on the other hand I do feel turkey often gets a bumwrap and would have been far further along economicaly and politicaly if it wasnt for constant European meddling and pressure.
Regarding the armenians, they wanted their own land, commited some terrorist acts(supported by a lot of US congresmen I might add) in the 80s, after the iron wall fell they got their own land and quickly gave it up again becouse they didnt like self rule so Armenians are a moot point.
Well I just finished reading a great book called Dreaming War by Gore Vidal. It talks about this war and how it's an example of classic American vengence. It also talks about the intentions of Bush and Cheney among others involved in the current administration. I suggest this to Hero. And I don't think you can disprove Gore Vidal. He's a National Book Award winner and also a Pulitzer Prize winner. He's covered the entire history of the United States so I consider him to be quite knowledgable on history. Give it a read and see if you can handle an opposing viewpoint for a change.

But what I'm trying to get at...were those by 'peacniks' themselves? That's the only protesting group the author has addressed, and only to (imo) serve the purpose of illustrating that not everyone who protests aggression does so for 'peace.' For some groups, it's a veil for political, ideological, and/or social agendas.Quote:

Regardles of that teenwolf managed to make a bigger fool of himself then I ever coul by first stating that there WERE protests against Idi Amin and right after that claiming the editorial was factualy correct while the editorial stated that there had been none.

Considering how flippant Saddam tends to be about these kinds of issues, I'd say we're going to war.
