It's not that I don't want peace, but I think it's arrogant of the U.S. to assume that we know what is best for everyone and that we are the champions of all things right. I'm beginning to agree that the U.N. is getting fairly weak. If they are really trying to further peace and diplomacy, they should impose some resolutions on the U.S. for completely circumventing a body that they are member to and claim to respect. The U.S. never steps out of bounds when it comes to NAFTA or the WTO. The U.N. is proving they're weak by just caving in when the U.S. decides to declare war on another country without their support. This coalition of the willing is only willing about one thing: willing to pay the bill when we're down bombing the shit out of Iraq. Either that or these countries are trying to curry favor with U.S. in hopes of support later down the road. I don't like Saddam, but I refuse to believe that this mess couldn't be solved without using force. Heck, like Dolemite said, if we could send in a small team to take out Saddam and his cronies and then the U.S. backs out, I'd be in favor of it. But no, we have to fight a war and then occupy the country while we rob the country of its resources.
