I find AIAS to be pretty accurate.
Madden issue - If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
As for the Splinter Cell - console thing. Obviously it wasn't in the runnings for overall since other stuff beat it out that was on the PC.
I wish I got G4...
Oh and Battlefeild is an awesome game. I don't think the developers should be punished for putting out good product because their publisher is EA, that's not right. Atleast, not to me.
Tommy Tallarico does seem to act like a jackass, but I like Electric playground for entertainment value so I can see where you're coming from. ;)
I'm not sure about the AIAS. Most of the voters are media and general mainstream people... their votes are pretty tarnished by hype since they're not true gamers in the sense anyhow.
I find the Game Developer Choice Awards to be more credible... it's more like the Oscars... an official industry body to give out industry awards.
Madden is usually wildly different from year to year.
In the same way that a Street Fighter fan can see all the differences from one game to another, so can a Madden fan.
Obviously, someone with such strong, uneducated biases like you wouldn't care to try to notice.
Oh shit I did say that >.> Damnit, well I'm wrong. I'll admit it, though I've always had a small bias against EA, and I still probably wouldn't call it game of the year, that doesn't mean it can't be. Sorry for my arrogance, please forgive me :(.
Animal Crossing beat FFX? Suddenly I like this show.Quote:

I believe the Academy has artists and scientist who deal with 3D modelling and animation (motion, physics), judge the graphical appeal of games.Quote:

I think...
GDC is probably the most accurate. But Battlefeild is a good game so I couldn't care less.
While, yes, AIAS probably has some semblance of technical writers to judge the games, yeah, it's always better when people from the industry first hand are the ones who determine the outcome.
And I agree, BF1942 is an awesome games... it was a finalist for GOTY at the GDCA too... Metriod Prime took that it there though.
