JBNagis~ You haven't played it either? Like where the heck did they release this sucka? Like in 5th&Jepip & BubbleGum ave? Damn, like no arcades around me have this game! They all think SvC is CvS ... and I'm like NOOO! SNK versus CapCom ... not CapCom versus SNK! I can understand the confusion, but like after seeing me for the second time in a week ... you kinda have to understand the question! And there better be a sequel .... DUCK KING, SAISHU, EIJI, AND SEIGER!
Who's going to get the AES version in October?
A winner is me.
ME! I hope, yeah I will and I can't wait.

Family/Colleg arcade near my house may have it but the last thing i really want is to get sweated for my tokens from some wanna be thugs. I tend to carry a serrated edge knive and ruining it with some punks blood would suck.
JBNagis
I've got to play this game somehow....October is two frickkin' months away!
Fighter X, if you can't wait until October, just go play KOF 2002, and pretend it's got Capcom characters. That's almost the same as playing SvC.
Seriously, it's old, slow, and not as good as CvS2 (or CvS1 for that matter).
And you learned this from all the time you spent playing the game... right?Quote:

Go back to your Virtual Fighter, or whatever its called.
I'm going to try to, but scrounging up $300 isn't going to be easy :cry:Quote:

This year seems to be all kinds of slow! I want this year to end so Halo2 comes out. Heck this holiday is not coming any quicker ... SvC:Chaos, Full Spectrum Warrior, and others. I missed the VF4:Evo launch ... darn. Still no $$$. And Soul Caliber is coming soon too right? Or is it out? I need to pay all my bills before buying a new game ... even if its only $20!
It doesn't matter if it's my hands doing the fireballs and shoryukens, or it's your hands doing the fireballs and shoryukens, the same exact thing happens on the screen.Quote:

Hurry up and buy it. It'll make you forget about this heinous looking retread.Quote:

PS - VF4:Evo is both slow and ugly.
this game is infinetly times better than VF4 or Evo
I finally located an arcade in Burbank that has the game. Now I can finally play it you stupid fucking sons of bitches. :p
Ugly, but no game that expects you to routinely react in 2/60ths of a second or it stamps a big, giant "you fucking suck, gaijin!" on your forehead can really be considered slow.Quote:

Why they're even being compared, I have no idea, but to call VF4:evo ugly in the face of SnK:C is ridiculous. Even you sprite-humpers can see that it's a well-crafted game.Quote:

I didn't mean to imply that I think it's a bad game (okay, I implied it but didn't really mean it) because I don't have a problem with gameplay at all, or it's speed for that matter. I played VF4:Evo finally over a friends house ... It was awesome, but I have to agree with some ... Its slow. Especially, after played CapvSNK2 on the X-Brick. Yes, I am impartial to a 2-D fighter, but I do like all games. VF4:EVo should not even be COMPARED to SvC: Chaos. Two separate genres, and people they are clamoring too. Chaos is for the "Ye Olde Schooler" and VF series is for more realistic fighting(sidenote: though some of the moves cannot be done ... ie: Kage) . And when I brought that up ... I did not intend for every tom-dick-and-harry to show up and start bashing each other about ...
"(like a whiney 5 yr old)WHATS BETTER VF or SvC? I think VF cause its graphically cool! And to all you sprite-humpers ... suck on that!" The sprite-humpers comment was from Fury Fox! :)
I say ... who gives a crap. Enjoy the game ... thats what its all about! Hell, I can't wait to play ... Soul Caliber II! Hell, talk about a differant game! And why not throw in ... DOOM III, Half-Life 2, and Halo 2!
Look, its all about the games ... its cool to debate, but when it starts to become petty arguments and name-calling ... thats when it crosses the line of being fun. Especially, when your debating. I know noone has name called, BUT I just want to say this ahead of time.
Okay, second page of that thread,
in Demitri's ending there is a shot of God watching Doraemon on TV
I think that is awesome.
How does me doing a QCT+P and watching a slow ugly fireball happen onscreen differ from someone else doing a QCT+P and me watching a slow ugly fireball happen onscreen?Quote:

For the record, I still plan on getting this if it ever comes to a home console, but those of you planning on spending $300+ for this, when it is anything but an evolutionary leap, are crazy in my eyes.
And, I wasn't the first one to mention VF4, 88 was. I don't think VF4 is slow at all, but I guess it's a matter of preference when it comes to the graphics. I like the hyper-detailed look on the characters, but some of you perfer to have multiple characters with Gis and fireballs. Whatever.
Taito~no in U.S.Last TPB was secrets,Manji ran into Magatsu at the painters house and agreed to help him kill Shira.I am not sure what is last,Secrets or Beasts(Gichii kicks ass) but thats the last thing i remember.
Advocate~has a U.S. Date for Chaos been set yet.
Korly~i can tell by your um...taste in men that you really don't know quality from bullshit.i have watched people play VF4 and thought it was slow.i have seen people play Garou and SF3rd and KoF2k2 and thought it was kind of slow. But than...now listen to this part, its very important....PLAY the game and really get a feel for the character movement, the reaction times thats when you realize that just being a rubbernecker isn't enough. You can watch porn and think...eh it looks fun i guess.but when your knee deep in somethin nice and juicy, thats when you realize just being a spectator aint enough.....BUDDY!!

Fresh for 03' you suckas
personally I think VF: Evo is fun to watch, I was recently watching recent Japanese tournament matches and the game is absolutely beautiful...and looks like 2 people really fighting...it's amazingly technical and well I would play it more if I had time, but I just don't have time to get into right now, as I can only handle a couple fighting games at a time...but yeah, there isn't much love for it here in State College PA either, not much love for any 3-D stuff really except SC2...it's a shame...
Well watching GGX and GGXX you can easily tell the two apart if you know the move sets from the latter, you'd see a lot more stuff in the new one...FRCing, air dust, etc...
I enjoy watching really good matches almost as much as playing, just to see what people have done with these games...
Uh, I don't think anyone's actually having a serious SvC vs. VF debate. We're all just kidding around.
Well, except Korly, but he likes a new fighting game every week.

Strider: I'm not debating VF vs SvC, that's irrelevant. 88 is the one that mentioned VF. My comments were aimed squarely at SvC and it's lack of speed or beauty.
Nagis: You can be "fresh" for all the "nice and juicy" "suckas" you want. That doesn't change the fact that SvC is slow. I already said that it could have the ultimate reaction times, that I could play the shit telepathically, that the shit could happend before I even finished thinking about it, and it would still be SLOW. I didn't say a damn thing about the control, as I'm in no position to comment on that.
In closing, my statement is that "SvC is SLOW and UGLY" I have not, and will not comment on the control, or anything else involving an opinion that needs to be made after actually playing the game. My comments can easily be made WITHOUT performing my own jumpkicks and fireballs. I also am not debating wether or not VF is better than SvC.
And also, I like watching WWE. That however says nothing about my taste in men, or "nice juicy suckas that I get fresh for". And besides, which TV shows I watch have absolutely no bearing on wether or not CvS is a slow game.
And, Strider, I don't know what you mean about me liking a new fighting game every week, but my favorite fighting series is Tekken. I've been playing VF4 Evo lately, and like it a lot. I also really liked playing CvS2 online for awhile, and although I got the import of SC2 for GC, I never really got into it.
I would also like to add once again that I plan on buying SvC once it comes to the home consoles.
Heh, I was just kidding anyway, but I was referring to you going into threads and saying "nobody plays that old shit anymore!" a month and a half after the game came out.Quote:

Fresh for 03' you SUCKAS!!
BTW, the MVS kit is selling on ebay for $575 with "by it now" from Trieuminator (probably the most trustworthy independent MVS seller around, so its legit)...might be cheaper to get the MVS game than the AES, come December.
They have this at the Sunnvale Golfland (CA), in case anyone lives in the area and wants to play it. All I really have to say is that playing SF characters with 4 buttons sucks, and Hugo is ENORMOUS. Maybe it was the 30-40" monitor, I don't know. I also really wish they would stop making MVS games so these new 2D fighters could go hi-res. Guilty Gear XX is putting them all to shame.
Somehow my Ken circa 1993 still managed to kick a little ass.
They keep it up, and they will put themselves back out of business. Unfortunately, people are on a real graphics kick, so it would behoove them to move onto another piece of hardware. In case they haven't heard, it is possible to get arcade perfections without paying $325 for a cart that you could win a hardcore wrestling match with.Quote:

and i was gonna stop there tonight
guess im heading over there tomorrow during work
Tilt in Annapolis Mall has it now.
I'll be camping out at the mall for many hours today.
I'll post impressions tonight.
Impressions:
Yeah... its ugly, but it plays great. I couldn't figure out any of the systems, so I played it like SF2. Corner traps and rushdown = the win.
I was having a really hard time getting supers to come out... but that could just be my shitty joystick skills.
Regardless of what the naysayers tell you, this is a fun, cool game that is worthy of your attention.
P.S. I spent one dollar and played for two hours. I rule!
P.P.S. My desire to buy the board has only increased after spending some time with the game.
When is the MVS cart release? I don't think I want the Jamma setup.
...so...any new word on the release dates for the console versions?
i beleive Some time Next year
my guess would be that you wont see a console release in the US (other than the AES) till the end of next year or early 2005
I'm waiting on the JPS2 release, but I'm not expecting it any time soon. They got to pimp the neo-geo one last time before giving it up.
Played it at my mall today...
Ok first off, I still don't get you asshats that said "Dude, it might look slow, but if you play it, it's fast!". I press right, and my guy moves right. WTF were you expecting, lag? It's just as slow as it looks. That doesn't make it abd game though, just a slow one. However, having watched it (and played it) for quite a bit longer than I did last time, I don't think it's as slow as I used to. I'd say it's like 2 stars faster than I originally thought. It's not as fast as CvS2, but it's not as slow as I made it out to be.
I used these characters:
Mars People - WTF? I did a special, and a UFO flew by. Didn't seem to do anything though. I guess he reminds me of a Darkstalker or something. What game is he from?
Goenitz - Again, I'm not sure where he's from, but he seemed very boss-like. The only moves I could figure out with him were a bunch of firewall moves, and move that made me briefly disappear. I'm sure he's a good character, but I had no idea what to do with him.
Zero - Seemed cool, but I didn't have a fucking clue what to do with him, and I was getting Ryued to death the whole time by my opponent
Vega - In CvS2 I play Vega by CONSTANTLY hopping oof of the wall. In SvC, and this might be the fault of the joystick, I just can't play him as fast and furious as I need to. I could only get my wall jump to work like, 40% of the time. And he didn't appear to have any new moves, but it's not like I'd know what to try anyway.
Nasty Ken - Uh, it's Ken. But, his uppercut goes farther, or something.
M. Bison - Well, again, doesn't seem like he was anything new. And, the psycho crusher only hits once on a block (harder to do tick damage) and the special effects on his super and regular psycho crushers look like ass. A big step backward from CvS2.
Chun LI - Her fireball goes full screen on HP and it's like, not a fireball on LP. And, I have no idea how spinning bird kick can be considered a useful move, not to mention it only worked about 9% of the times I tried it, but again, that might be because of the joysticks at the arcade.
The presentation is ass. In CvS2, when you hit someone with the final blow, you know it. Hell, even in the original SFII when you landed the final blow, your opponent let out a death scream, and everything went in slow motion. In SvC, you fall down just like normal, and if there's a death scream it's not terribly louder than any other noise you make, and you lay there for a second, and then it says KO. I never saw anyone win with a special, so I don't know if there are any special effects for that. Or, maybe I did, and since there is no special effect I just didn't notice it. And of course, the graphics are crap, but it's Neo Geo, so I expected that.
There is a super move that can only be used once per oppenent, and I don't know if it needs a super meter to use or not, but you can do it after losing half of your life. Also, throwing is performed by pressing 2 buttons at once, which I don't really like, but I guess it's no big deal. You can do tech rolls, and you can dash forward. Are there any new systems that I don't know about? Oh yeah, you can do like, and alpha counter or something, I think.
Also, I'd like to experiment more with the new stuff (Zero for instance) but EVERYONE else insists on picking Ryu or Akuma (with the occassional Iori thrown in) that I just get jumpkicked fireballed and uppercutted to death whenever I try to change things up. I hate that. How is that even fun? You chumps have been doing that for like, 13 years, try something new!
I am not so sure I'll buy the home versions now, unless they are online. And I think any of you guys that are gonna buy the arcade version are insane, but whatever.
LOL!Quote:

P.S. I picked Akuma, and Iori. Nyaa!
Hey, I tend to just use Vega and jump off of the wall all day, but I do devolve to Bison sometimes.
Hey, I never said I can play these games! :)
I used Earthquake, Dimitri, and Genjuro. Dimitri is god, plain and simple, he's quick and chains are fun. Only gripe: He sounds like a GIRL. Earthquake was by accident, but he was fun to use.
Here's everyone's monster and animal form. Sorry about the size, though.
Chux - I'm glad that Demitri doesn't look short anymore. He looks more like that lanky, muscular 7-foot tall bat creature from his Darkstalkers endings.
EDIT - one other question for Hugo fans. I know in SF3, he's about roughly 8 ft. tall. Any word on his height/specs for SvC, seeing as he seems to have grown by a foot or so, and seemingly about 100 lbs extra of muscle?
Yeah, I hear that. I pulled off Midnight Bliss 2 times, but I have no idea how I did it. I'm thinking double half circle forward and 2 punches but I could be wrong, because sometimes it shot out his super fireball.

It's a great blocked-crossup set up. Jump in Kick, ducking forward, Midnight Bliss. If they block the first 2 moves, and they aren't quick enough, the Bliss will get them.

They better release it quick because the arcade rom has been dumped. Bootlegs are probably being made as we speak.
Bootlegs are already availavble.

Wow, quick.
Now I need a damned stick.
IGN just posted a hands-on article and news about the PS2 version: http://ps2.ign.com/articles/450/450669p1.html
My local kick ass arcade(Rocky's) got it in. Whats more was that there was 5 bucks in tokens just sitting in the change machine. What a glorious day!
Anyway, the game is really good looking IMO. Its good looking for a NeoGeo game. If you sit there and compare it to GGXX or something, then yeah, its gonna be a brown bagger.
I didnt give the game too much play, because we had to be at class and such. Still, what I got to play of it, I really enjoyed. I used Tessa, Guile, Shiki, and Genjuro. I couldnt get a goddamn thing off with Genjuro, I dunno why. Could have been because of the second controller or something. When I got on first player, most moves werent too hard to do. Cept the charges. I had to be extremely deliberate with them. More so than in any other fighting game Ive ever played.
Tessa was easily the most enjoyable character to play as, if nothing else, for the conversation that happened when I fought Ken. "You goth guys are getting out of hand.".
Well, yeah, those are my quick impressions. I am gonna go back there soon and play some more, hopefully tonight.
IGN Says "Korly has NO freakin' idea what he's talkin' about!!!"
From the IGN Article...
Quote:
From our initial playtest with the game, there's one thing that cannot be denied: this game is fast. And when I say fast, I mean it's faster than a couple of fat kids chasing down an ice cream truck. The inclusion of the Guard Cancel techniques has made this already fast-paced game even more chaotic than previous SNK/Capcom collaborations.
Does anyone know if there are any SvC machines in New York (Long Island, more specifically)? And, yeah, I used the search feature. Nothing.
I've been playing MotM these last couple days. Would those who've played Chaos say it's better then the little NGPC wonder?
I'd doubt it, from how people generally react to it.
