Black Arts Viper just made my Sunday morning.
Thanks
Shitload of new, blurry screens.
Shiki's looking fine.
Why are all these pictures so shitty?
You really aren't supposed to take pictures of games during beta tests, as you can see on the sign in the upper left corner of the monitor. So I'm guessing these folks who grabbed the shots are shooting from the hip or their jacket pockets or some such crazy nonsense.
Not to mention, it's difficult enough to take a clean shot of a game in motion with a digital camera - they're bound to be blurred.
It's even harder when you can't see what your lens is aimed at. Remember my intital DDPDOJ footage? I must have used 45 minutes of tape to get a good minute and a half.Quote:

Everything else is spot-on.

Check the hair!
Guile looks f'in great.
I'm really looking forward to this.
Some of this art just sucks. Blah! At least I know the actual game will fair much better.
poison = teh hot
even if the capcom cannon has her set up as a "former" dude, that art looks the shizzle(also; guiles hair is fuckin PIMP)
almost every beta test from MMCafe is negative(for any new neo fighter) because all of the supposed "players" there want shitty[ie fan favorites]characters(i.e..ones that never get used in real/tourney play and are often weak compared to the more standard shotokan/regular characters).Quote:

It'd be better than having 700 shoto clones. That's the problem when going with "standard" characters. You see the same people every game, and it has gotten OLD.Quote:

Well, if so many people ask for them, don't you think it's about time that the developers start to listen? Is more diversity too much to ask for? Playmore made us wait weeks and weeks to see mostly the same old people we knew ( and were hoping weren't ) were going to be in it from the beginning.Quote:

I'm tired of people using the same five characters. This game badly needs a better (more varied) character selection. Which is the only thing I can see wrong with the game right now. The SNK side is decent, but the Capcom side sucks ass.
Edit: You know, the more I think about this game, the more I realize that they'll probably never be able to come up with a decent cross-over game. I'd much rather a totally new series.
Who's Bao?

1st week: "Dude! Hugo, Shiki and Earthquake!"
2nd week: "Dude! etc. and etc.
3rd week: "......*old character and old character*..."
4th week: "Zangief and Blanka will be next."
5th week: "Balrog and M.Bison. Whoop de fuggin' doo."
When we saw Hugo, Shiks' and 'Quaker, we thought for sure that we'd at last get the variety in a vs. series that we'd been looking for. That enthusiasm was dead at about week three.
Ahh...memories. Those were the days, eh FX?Quote:

Good read, though the game doesn't sound all that impressive.Quote:
Still, I want to see this for myself... :)Quote:
First off, thinking back on the fifty-wins guy, I’m not sure what to think: should I be amazed that he so thoroughly mastered a game on the first day of its public release, or be annoyed that the game mechanics are so insultingly similar to years-old games that there was no significant learning curve at all?
Three years – probably more – in development or at least planning, and all they have to show for it is a standard Street Fighter engine with a predictable character roster. Sure, the game plays great, is fun, and has no glaring bugs at this point. But I didn’t come out of this experience in any state of awe, wanting to shout out my discovery of this game to the masses or some shit. That’s happened to me before; not now.
One thing I can say for SVC Chaos – and maybe this is really important – is that it avoids the whole MUGEN vibe given off by the first couple of CVS games. That is to say, the characters have been completely redrawn into a new, yet familiar, visual style rather than ripped directly from older games. And yet, I wonder how much this is really going to count for in terms of gameplay.
Guile looks pimpin' in SvC.
Well, it's about time for some characters that haven't been used as much. There are some good ones in FF3 (Bob Wilson, etc) that are totally being wasted. Playmore should not hesitate to break some ground by introducing some more characters that haven't appeared in CvS 2.Quote:

The game does not sound earthshattering, but that doesn't mean I don't want to see it for myself.
Most definitely. I don't want to play the exact same characters 4 sequels from now.Quote:

Bob Wilson, Rick Strowd ( I'll say it 100x ) and Andy need to come back.
Well it sounds like it doesn't play or feel anything like CvS1 or 2 so thats good.
I stopped expecting anything mind blowing from this game when the majority of the roster was announced so it'll take some ridiculously horrid gameplay for me to be dissapointed at this point.
Still, was Mr.Karate AND Evil Mr. Karate necessary?
Thank god. I hate CvS2 :p

And from what I've heard so far, Evil Ken isn't too different from normal Ken.

Yeah. I singled out Mr.Karate since he seemed to need the evil counterpart least. Sad, these are all most likely our unlockable hidden characters.Quote:

Honestly, I think that if he's going to be Mr. Karate, they should have simply had a Shin version of him, and that would be it.
But Mr. Karate wasn't evil incarnate to being with, which is what the Shin form is. It really makes no damn sense, even for a dream-match.Quote:

It's a dream match. Sense doesn't really matter.
Even though it's a dream match, something as blatantly stupid as that dosen't deserve to be there, though.
OMG! Next they should make Shin Guile and Shin Kasumi!
Shin Blanka! ;)
Shin Balrog!!!!
It's on now! Ohhhh man is it on!
Shin Bao!
No evil counterparts unless theres enough to go around for everyone.

Oops, I meant MvsC2
hahaha...so the game is getting flak already, in beta? Lame. Hehehehe, and the roster is the predictable same-ol same-ol. Yet I'm sure you guys will find a way to spin this as automatically more original/better/gutsy than CvS2.
Dang, after reading that report and hearing that Ryu and Ken are owning out, it seems like neither SNK or Capcom seem to make games 'fair.' And to think, SNK wouldn't play favorites with their characters, like Capcom so obviously did.
Hmmm...at least it looks very cool. Now put it on the PS2, or else SNK can watch it tank in the dismal American arcade scene.
Well, it is the beta. If Ryu is making a killing, I expect he'll be toned down for the final arcade release. Overall though, I think this will make a fun game with friends, but not something to use in serious competition.
It's more likely to happen than not, even with its present flaws.Quote:

Is it so impossible to imagine, gasp!, a skilled fighting game player... double shock! residing in Japan? Incredible!
I mean, is it impossible that someone is actually skilled with Ryu? Ryu. Unheard of!
And it's a beta, as already mentioned.
You motherfuckers love to find the shitty side of everything... don't you?
When the shitty side is as big as it is......yes. Tired of the same fucking people.
This whole project is fundamentally flawed anyway, so it's not that hard.
-although, strangely, I've been getting back into SFA3 for some reason (nabbed my gf's psx copy, playing it in my PS2 while GGX2 weeps)...it's really a charming little game. Much more enjoyable then they aptly-labeled 'mugen'-style CvS2. So despite it's faults, I think this game could really have a place in fighter's collections. It really needs a big release though...everyone keeps saying it, but it's that or obscurity.
So basically, a cast of obscure characters that casual fans don't know would be better?
Buisness are in buisness to make money, not to give hand jobs to fanboys.
They keep it up, and they'll be giving handjobs for cash. I'm talking out of business. Done.Quote:

Most of the people you call "fanboys" are those posting suggestions from "obscure" games on other sites. They happen to be the people that play the games.
Again, 1/2 old, 1/2 new is the way to go. Sonic Boom, Shoryuken, *yawn*
Time for something new.
Erm, the movies come up grey for me. I get audio, but no video. Anybody know what codec they might be using?
I don't think that new characters are even as important as new stuff to do with the characters you already know and like. Sure, add a couple new characters, or obscure picks like Tessa and Shiki, but add some fundamental changes to the existing characters. So much more important.
I don't think most of us are tired of the characters necessarily, but we're tired of doing the exact same things with them game after game. Say what you will of them, but I think one of the reasons the Vs (XvSF, etc.) games were so popular is that you were able to do all sorts of things totally new with familiar characters.
Fury: When I get a new PC, we should play the MAME edition of A3 or some other classics.
This is EXACTLY the problem as I see it. I see the old SF 2 characters in, and I think "Well, this will probably be the same Guile, same two special moves, same throw, different look" and then I think the same about Sagat, Ryu, Dhalsim, Bison, Chun Li.Quote:

They have the exact same moves and style as they did in SF 2, and it's time for a change. Kyo has managed to make changes every year, and Ryu hasn't made ONE in however many years.
I would be happy if they said "It's got the SF 2 characters, but wow, that new move they gave Guile is killer, and did you see Ryu's new super? awesome!" But sadly, nope. Same old, same old. Even Terry seems to be the same as CvS 1.
Uhh, what the heck are you talking about? All the characters are reported to have move tweaks and such, for better or for worse. Dan is reported to be a powerful character in the game... DAN. Mr 'pink gi wearing copy of Robert and Ryo who was made because Ryo is a copy of Ryu.' If that's not a change, I don't know what is.
"Tweaks" is different from "a new move or hugely different change".
Old school Terry getting new school Terry's Buster Wolf in CvS 1? That's quite a change. I don't see tweaking a couple of existing moves a very huge change at all, because Ryu is still Ryu with the same damn palette of moves he's always had.
So, I wonder if this is the final character roster. Anyone heard any other news/seen any new links?
I know our resident "Man in Japan" is going to be on top of things if SvC beta tests in Tokyo.
I'm hoping SNK will do a home console surprise, and throw in some fan favorites. I mean, hell, they did it with KoF 2002.Quote:

Just kidding on the last part.
New, clear vids here.
The announcer needs to cut back on the caffeine.
It's a Capcom tradition. I can't think of one Capcom game that's come out recently that hasn't had an ass for an announcer.Quote:
But NO ONE will beat the announcer for Fatal Fury: Real Bout Special for the Saturn. Esp. when you're picking your character, he's doing some sort of song... "Hey guy! How's it doing! Pick your favorite character! Oh yeah, fight to win, you can do it!"
And that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the dumb things he says. I'm sure FX will agree with me on this one ;)

I love that announcer ^^
I also swear that one of the announcers in one of the versions of SF 2, was ALSO the voice of Guile.
I could be wrong, but holy crap, they sound so much the same. It's like Capcom needed an american voice, and got the loud booming announcer to do it.

I can't imagine SvC running on a completely new piece of hardware. I don't see why Playmore would develop a game that wouldn't run on the MVS, thereby forcing operators to buy some more new hardware for this one game.Quote:

But... According to some folks on SNK-Capcom.com, SvC is releasing for around $1,800. That's a hell of a lot. If there's anything different about this MVS game, I'm guessing they incorporated something in the actual game cart. That's "I'm hoping they..." too. It seems more logical.
And this is only one of the biggest [biggest ever?] MVS releases in a long time, so factor that in and the estimated price makes more sense.
$1,800???

That would make sense, since many of the pictures Ive seen seem to have transparencies in them...although the pictures could also be between 2 frames. Until we get any direct capture screens, I really cant tell. Maybe it could be on the Hyper 64 since the cab says it on the top? Its all very confusing.Quote:

$ 1,800. You fucking mad? I can't afford that. Are you sure that isn't Yen?
That would be what, $15?
Yeah, its probably $1800. Itll come down eventually, but itll probably take quite a while since this is one of SNK's most anticipated releases yet.
Err... That's would be $18 if it actually was in yen. EDIT: Beat to it.Quote:

True true. People seem to be forgetting that this game is made for arcades, not home. So its priced for the arcades, not the home user. Thats why the arcade version is $1800 and the home version is $50. If you want the game before a home release, you're going to pay a lot more, regardless of the title.Quote:
