Hey, for those of you who propped Jacque Chirac up during the whole UN-diplomacy-mess for going against the USA... maybe he wasn't as noble as he seemed... seems that one of the biggest French oil companies contributed millions of dollars to Chirac's political party... and as Stone said, wasn't France one of the few countries that Iraq had contracts with to operate the oil fields? Hmm... very interesting.

It's all crooked, the whole fucking lot of it. At the very least, if people are gonna chastise/mock/criticize Bush for being run by the oil companies, it's clear that Chirac is in the same damn position.

Eh, the French are Nazis nowadays, right? Fuck them. I'm anti-war, but I hate the French anyway.

I don't remember anyone ever being pro-Chirac, but now that I know this, screw him. I still don't hate the French. BTW, some conspiracy people I know told me that the reason France doesn't support the war is because they actually sold chem/bio weapons to Hussein. I'm not sure it's all that accurate, but interesting nonetheless.

To be fair, I dont think anyone was pro-Chirac on this board, nor was anyone really putting him on a pedestal for his anti-war stance. But I do know a lot of people were, and well this link just shows he's a goddamn hypocrite just like the rest of 'em. He's no better. For the record, I never hated France either, they're entitled to their opinion and they can use whatever tactics they like to get what they want... but when you look at this, then you look at how France says it will be happy to take part in the rebuilding process... fuck 'em.

France has been selling weapons to Iraq for years and years - like I've mentioned before, the French built the Iraqi nuclear weapons plant in Osirak back in the early 80s, the same one Israel blew up. Chirac was instrumental in the building of that nuclear plant, as well. There's a reason why a lot of Israelis took to calling the plant "Ochirac" before and after the assault.

Stone where is this place called Osirak?

In Osirak, called Osirak, whatever - 33°12'30"N 44°31'30"E, is that better? You're sad.

Gee and here I was thinking that the plant was called Osirak, silly me.

No, it was the name of the reactor - I accidentally wrote "in" instead of "called" in my post. Who cares?

The point is, the French built a nuclear reactor for Iraq (and Hussein) that would've eventually given them the ability to produce nuclear weapons - probably by the time Iraq invaded Kuwait. Israel defied the rest of the world (including the US) and blew up the reactor in an act of pre-emptive self defense. People protested the strike because they thought Iraq wasn't a threat, didn't think Hussein was a problem, never expected anything to happen. Imagine if Iraq had nukes when they invaded Kuwait.
