Nightwolve...shouldn't it be wolf? Anyways, try not to be like Stone and Carter. The condescending tone isn't necessary and is always the thing responsible for turning what could be a decent discussion into a bash fest.

The shias do hate Saddam, I found it comical how the media made it look like the whole of Iraq was ou there cheering when it was 30 dissident Shia's, notice Bush's approval rating went throught the roof literally over night due to this footage, the TV sure is a powerful thing in the right hands.
You picked up on that too, huh?Quote:

Uh, I think Stone and Carter are justified in their 'assholeness', given that's how you and others (on the left) seem to deal with them - even when they're being perfectly respectful and fair.. I dunno who started it first, but that's how I see it.Quote:

Why was it comical? 60% of Iraq is Shia (from reports I've read), they're the majority. Where did you get 30? Did you see the video from the beginning? There were hundreds... And we don't want Bush's approval rating going up, now do we?? Heh. I understand you don't like Bush, but trying to discredit the events of yesterday because of it is childish.Quote:

Please... don't try to draw anyone's sympathy... There's an endless pile of your condescending remarks, as well as your personal attacks on Jimmy. You've toned it down somewhat, but you still seem hell bent on attacking conservatives on this board.Quote:

Ok.
Nah, I was cheering along with the Iraqis. I know it's a bit tough for people like yourself to understand but there are people in this world whose lives don't ultimately revolve around their shallow self.Quote:

It is now safe to say that Carter's jubalation was a bit premature. As is any war-supporter.
It's ok Carter. He's just pissed more marines didn't die today to make his point... Instead of hoping/leaning towards the fact that the reports might be too early or sketchy, he still wanted them to be accurate. It's more important that your jubilation be premature than the report being wrong. More important that yesterday's events be overblown propoganda, than a people expressing their joy at a dictator's demise.Quote:

Anyways, one good sign doesn't mean we should expect a good outcome... I'll keep my cautious stance and wait till this thing is over.
Whats my point? I got 2 family members in the Marines you dick.Quote:

Y'know, even though I really don't give a flying fuck about partisan politics or pro/anti-war crap, I really gotta say that the latest wave of anti-US/war/whatever criticism in this tread is both childish and more akin to a death rattle than a righteous cry...
I find this interesting. It doesn't necessarily prove anything, but I find it funny in a cynical, bitter sort of way.

I especially like this part, especially considering how true it is:
Italy's La Repubblica criticized the anti-war grouping, saying in an editorial: "The battle lines are drawn and this time the countries that opposed the coalition war are ready to muscle in and demand a piece of the Iraqi pie."
Bottom line is you guys are just as clueless as to what is occuring over there as I am.
Understandable. You've gotta try to find your positive in any situation.
Anyway, on a good note (I'm not sure if this has been noted), the kurds took Kirkuk, however, they really didn't meet much resistance. But it's still cool to see them working their way south and being able to help.
Although, Turkey's insistance on controlling Iraqi kurds gets me mad. Let them deal with themselves.
