War Concerns

Over the course of the last week or so, my opinion of the war has changed; the thought of the Iraqi people who have new hope and new freedoms coming to them is definately a good thought.

However, there are still issues about this whole thing. Where are these weapons of mass destruction? Where was our evidence? What's our justification in all of this?

And moreover, if no weapons are found, how is this going to effect our position with the UN, not to mention the rest of the world? If we do find our smoking gun, that's one thing; but what if we don't?

I'd love to be able to sit back and let FoxNewsCNNMSNBCBBC tell me about the Liberation of Iraq... but what about everything else?

I propose merging these into one single thread and stickying it.

Well, I'm uber-confident that we'll find the WMD. But as it is, we've already found illegal weapons. Not only were they illegal but they were fired at neighbors (SCUDs being fired at Kuwait).

While I realize that the anti-war/pro-Saddam contingent will probably balk at that, it's okay. Everyone has their reasons for supporting or protesting this war and mine are multiple. Change the regime. Liberate Iraq. Get rid of any illegal weapons (includes WMDs, SCUDs).

Liberate Iraq has become my forefront cheer in the last month and a half or so, so for me, it's victory. Seeing people say things like "What took you so long?" and "I want to say hello Bush. I want to shake his hand." are all worth it. To me, liberation is victory. I would have gone to war just to liberate the people of Iraq.

But I do understand your concerns.

If we don't find weapons, we're so screwed, and I'll be quite angry.

If we don't find weapons, yeah it will be pretty mad, but I'm also worried that Iraq will take out their loss, on some other country, because we attacked them. That's actually my biggest fear, our credibility isn't worth thousands of people dieing.

One thing that has truly impressed me though, is how many countries saying they would help rebuild Iraq after the war. It's just incredible, even if things don't go our way, America say loses it's credibility, as long as Hussien is out things will be better for people in Iraq. I think president Bush knows that as well, and for the people who don't like his ways, good for them. But really, We aren't ones to give into peer pressure, so no matter how much we are disliked, we do what we think is right. Justified or not, though it's not always good, I think it is this time. Especially because of how well it's going. Thousands of troops surrendering, is just great as well. So I have high hopes for this.

Uhm.. no, they were SCUDs. The troops that shot them down with Patroit intercepting missiles confirmed it.

No they weren't. Frogs have no way of being fired like that without dying. And I highly doubt that small croaking animals whistling through the air would set off sirens. Unless they were poisonous frogs. This could be possible. Then they may have reason to worry. But still, I doubt sirens would sound because of that.
